Abstract
Kebutuhan dasar dalam hirarki kebutuhan terdiri dari kebutuhan fisiologis dan keamanan yang harus dipenuhi. Perjuangan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dasar sering digambarkan dalam film, contohnya di film The Martian. Film ini bercerita tentang seorang astronot bernama Mark Watney yang tanpa sengaja terdampar sendirian di Mars dan berjuang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dasarnya. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menganalisis kebutuhan dasar manusia yang terlihat pada film The Martian dan bagaimana Mark Watney memenuhi kebutuhan dasarnya di Mars. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Teori hirarki kebutuhan oleh Abraham Maslow dan studi film digunakan untuk menjawab masalah kajian tentang kebutuhan dasar manusia dan pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar oleh Watney saat bertahan di Mars seperti yang terlihat pada film The Martian. Dari analisis tersebut, peneliti menemukan beberapa kebutuhan dasar yang didasarkan pada teori hirarki kebutuhan oleh Abraham Maslow seperti yang terlihat pada film The Martian. Di film, oksigen adalah kebutuhan manusia di ruang angkasa yang tidak bisa didapat dengan mudah. Dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa oksigen dapat dimasukkan ke dalam hirarki kebutuhan Maslow sebagai bagian dari kebutuhan fisiologis yang merupakan hal-hal fisik yang dibutuhkan untuk berfungsinya tubuh manusia dan fungsi tubuh manusia. Dalam film tersebut, Watney dapat memenuhi kebutuhan fisiologis seperti makanan, air, kehangatan dan istirahat, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan keselamatan. Watney memperoleh kebutuhan keselamatannya melalui baju astronot, habitat, rover dan mengikuti perintah awak NASA saat ia mencoba melewati orbit Mars untuk mencapai Hermes. Pada akhir film, Watney dapat memenuhi kebutuhan dasarnya sampai akhir masa pakainya. Kesimpulannya, hirarki kebutuhan tidak selalu datang secara berurutan, itu tergantung pada situasi dan kondisi
English Abstract
Basic needs in hierarchy of needs consist of physiological and safety needs that must be fulfilled. The struggle to fulfill basic needs is often depicted in movies, for example in The Martian movie. This movie tells about an astronaut named Mark Watney who accidentally stranded alone on Mars and is struggle to fulfill his basic needs. In this research, the researcher analyzes human basic needs that are seen in The Martian movie and how Mark Watney fulfills his basic needs on Mars. This research uses qualitative method. Hierarchy of needs theory by Abraham Maslow and movie studies are used to answer the problem of the study about the basic needs of human and the fulfillments of the basic needs by Watney during survival on Mars as seen in The Martian movie. From the analysis, the researcher found some basic needs that are based on the hierarchy of needs theory by Abraham Maslow as seen in The Martian movie. In the movie, oxygen is a human need in space that can not be obtained easily. It can be drawn a conclusion that oxygen can be included in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as part of physiological needs which are physical things needed for human and proper functioning of the human body. In the movie, Watney can satisfy physiological needs such as food, water, warm and rest, then followed by the fulfillment of safety needs. Watney obtains his safety need through astronaut suit, the Hab, rover and follow NASA crew order when he tried to pass Mars orbit to reach Hermes.At the end of the movie, Watney could satisfy his basic needs until the end of his survival days. In conclusion, hierarchy of needs are not always come in sequence, it depends on the situation and condition.
