Abstract

Permeasi campuran gas CH4/CO2 melalui membran anorganik dari geometri pori yang berbeda, yaitu silinder dan celah, telah dilakukan menggunakan Simulasi Dinamika Molekuler (MD) dengan temperatur konstan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pori silinder, dengan radius sebesar ukuran sel satuan MgO, mendukung permeasi CO2. Di sisi lain, geometri pori berupa celah, dengan lebar celah sama dengan jari-jari pori silinder, mendukung permeasi CH4. Permeasi tidak bergantung pada massa molekul dan adanya interaksi Coulomb. Hasil lebih lanjut menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan panjang pori membran mendorong pemisahan CH4 dan CO2.

English Abstract

The preferential permeation of CH4/CO2 mixture through inorganic membrane of different pore geometry, i.e. cylindrical and slit, is investigated using constant temperature Molecular Dynamics Simulation. The results show that cylindrical pore, whose radius is in the order of MgO unit cell size, favors the permeation of CO2. On the other hand, the slit pore, whose gap width is equal to radius of cylindrical pore, favors the permeation of CH4. The preferential in permeation is found to be independent to the molecular mass and the presence of Coulombic interaction. The results further show that the increase in membrane’s pore length promotes the separation of CH4 and CO2.
