Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan Business Strategy yang sesuai bagi perusahaan dengan menggunakan pendekatan strategi generik dari Porter. Dalam tahap perumusan strategi, peneliti terlebih dahulu melakukan analisis lingkungan industri dan lingkungan fungsional perusahaan. Dengan melakukan analisis atas lingkungan industri akan diketahui ancaman-ancaman yang dihadapi perusahaan meliputi tingkat persaingan dalam industri, ancaman masuknya pendatang baru, daya tawar pembeli / konsumen, daya tawar pemasok, dan ancaman produk subtitusi. Sedangkan analisis lingkungan fungsional dilakukan untuk mengetahui kinerja perusahaan, mengetahui kebijakan-kebijakan yang telah diambil perusahaan dan mengetahui sumberdaya yang dimiliki perusahaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Business Strategy (strategi bersaing) yang sesuai untuk PR. Alfi Putra adalah strategi fokus biaya. Dimana dalam strategi fokus biaya, perusahaan akan beroperasi pada wilayah sempit dengan berfokus pada kelompok pembeli tertentu dan mengabaikan kelompok pembeli yang lain. Perusahaan juga harus mencari keunggulan biaya dengan melakukan efisiensi atas produksi produk yang akan dijual kepada segmen sasarannya. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah perusahaan berada dalam posisi yang kuat dalam persaingan antar produsen rokok berskala kecil di wilayah Trenggalek namun posisi perusahaan cukup lemah bila dibandingkan dengan produsen rokok berskala besar yang ada di Indonesia. Saran yang dapat diberikan untuk perusahaan adalah sebagai perusahaan underdog, maka perusahaan perlu mengambil keputusan-keputusan tak biasa yang tak terpikirkan oleh produsen-produsen rokok berskala besar dan perusahaan hendaknya lebih sensitif terhadap fenomena dan perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi di masyarakat.
English Abstract
This study aims to determine the appropriate Business Strategy for the company by using the approach of Porter's generic strategy. In the strategy formulation phase, researchers conducted environmental analysis industry and functional environment. By conducting an analysis of the industrial environment it will be known that the threats facing the company include the level of competition in the industry, the threat of entry of newcomers, the bargaining power of buyers / consumers, the bargaining power of suppliers, and the threat of substitution products. While the functional environmental analysis conducted to determine the performance of the company, know the policies that have taken the company and know the resources owned company. The results show that the appropriate Business Strategy for PR. Alfi Putra is a cost focus strategy. Where in a cost-focused strategy, the company will operate in a narrow region by focusing on specific buyer groups and ignoring other groups of buyers. Companies should also seek cost advantage by efficiently producing products to be sold to their target segments. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that the company is in a strong position in the competition among small scale cigarette producers in the Trenggalek region but the company's position is quite weak compared to the large scale cigarette producers in Indonesia. The suggestion that can be given to the company is as an underdog company, the company needs to take unusual decisions that unthinkable by large scale cigarette producers and the company should be more sensitive to the phenomena and changes that occur in society.
