Abstract
Impaksi gigi dapat diartikan sebagai gigi yang tidak erupsi atau karena adanya halangan fisik terhadap jalur erupsi. Gigi yang mengalami impaksi dapat disebabkan karena beberapa sebab yaitu gigi yang berdesakan, kehilangan gigi secara dini, serta pencabutan gigi molar pertama dan kedua pada masa kanak-kanak. Biasanya impaksi gigi paling sering terjadi pada gigi molar ketiga terutama pada rahang bawah (mandibula). Pada gigi yang mengalami impaksi dapat menimbulkan beberapa kelainan seperti perikoronitis, karies gigi, kista dan tumor, periodontitis, resorbsi akar, kehilangan tulang alveolar. Posisi impaksi gigi molar ketiga seperti mesioangular, distoangular, bukoangular, inverter, horizontal dan vertikal juga dapat mempengaruhi terjadinya kelainan pada jaringan sekitar. Untuk mengevaluasi dan mengamati kelainan yang ditimbulkan dari impaksi gigi bisa dilihat dengan menggunakan foto panoramik yang berguna untuk mendiagnosis masalah yang membutuhkan cangkupan luas dari rahang seperti menentukan lokasi molar ketiga dan menduga sebuah lesi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu analitik observasional dengan mengambil sampel dari data hasil foto panoramik yang terdiagnosis memiliki kasus impaksi molar ketiga dengan metode purposive sampling yaitu 120 sampel dipilih sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi dan dikelompokan berdasarkan posisi impaksi gigi molar ketiga. Variabel yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini adalah posisi impaksi molar tiga dan kelainan jaringan sekitar. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya kelainan yang disebabkan dari masing-masing posisi impaksi gigi molar ketiga seperti perikoronitis, karies gigi, pulpitis, periodontitis, abses periapikal, kehilangan tulang alveolar, dan hipersementosis. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah dapat dilihat dari foto panoramik bahwa posisi impaksi gigi molar ketiga mempengaruhi terjadinya kelainan terhadap jaringan sekitarnya.
English Abstract
Dental impaction can be interpreted as a tooth that does not erupt or grow because of physical obstruction to the path of eruption. It can be caused due to several reasons, such as crowding teeth, early tooth loss, and extraction of first and second molar teeth in childhood. Dental impactions are most commonly occurs in third molar, especially in the mandible. The impacted teeth can cause some abnormalities to the surrounding tissues such as pericoronitis, dental caries, cysts and tumors, periodontitis, root resorptions, and the loss of alveolar bone. The position of third molar impaction such as mesioangular, distoangular, buccoangular, inverted, horizontal and vertical position can also affect the occurrence of abnormalities in surrounding tissue. To evaluate and observe the abnormalities resulting from dental impaction can be seen using panoramic photos which are useful for diagnosing problems that required wide coverage of the jaw such as determining the location of third molar and suspecting a lesion. The type of this study was analytic observational research where the samples were taken from panoramic photos that diagnosed by third molar impaction case. The samples were selected by purposive sampling method then 120 samples selected according to the inclusion criteria and divided into groups that based on the positions of third molars impaction. The variables studied in this research were the position of third molar impaction and the abnormalities of surrounding tissue. The results showed the presence of abnormalities caused by each position of third molar impaction position such as pericoronitis, dental caries, pulpitis, periodontitis, periapical abscess, alveolar bone loss, and hypersementosis. The conclusion of this research is the effect of the position of third molar impaction to the occurrence of abnormalities of surrounding tissue can be seen through panoramic photos.
