Abstract
Prosedur bedah pasca gingivektomi mengakibatkan luka dan proses inflamasi akut. Proses inflamasi akut neutrofil akan mendominasi 6-24 jam pertama. Pepaya mengandung flavonoid, papain dan vitamin C yang bekerja dengan cara menghambat enzim siklooksigenasi dan lipooksigenase pada reaksi inflamasi sehingga migrasi sel radang menurun. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh jus buah pepaya (Carica papaya L) terhadap penurunan jumlah neutrofil pada inflamasi akut pasca gingivektomi tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode true eksperimental dengan rancangan percobaan Randomized Group Post Test Only Design yang dibagi menjadi 8 kelompok P0 (kontrol positif), P1 (60%), P2 (80%), P3 (100%) dengan 2 time series. Pemberian jus buah pepaya dilakukan tiga kali sehari dan dilakukan pembedahan hari ke-1 dan ke-3. Hasil One Way ANOVA menunjukan perbedaan yang bermakna pemberian jus buah pepaya terhadap jumlah sel neutrofil antara kelompok kontrol positif dengan kelompok perlakuan (p=0,000). Hasil Uji HSD menunjukan hari ke-1 jumlah penurunan neutrofil paling banyak pada P3 (100%) dan hari ke-3 pada P6 (100%). Hasil Uji Korelasi Pearson (p<0,05) menunjukan jumlah sel neutrofil semakin menurun seiring meningkatnya konsentrasi jus buah pepaya. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemberian jus buah pepaya (Carica papaya L) dapat menurunkan jumlah neutrofil pada inflamasi akut pasca gingivektomi tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus).
English Abstract
The wound post-gingivectomy occur due to surgical procedure and acute inflammatory process. During acute inflammatory process neutrophils cells dominate number in the first 6-24 hours. Papaya contained flavonoids, papain and vitamin C that work by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase and lipooxygenase the inflammatory reaction so the migration of inflammatory cells can decrease. The purpose study is to determine the effect of papaya juice (Carica papaya L) to decrease number of neutrophil cells in acute inflammation post-gingivectomy in wistar (Rattus norvegicus). This research use true experimental method with Randomized Group Post Test Only Design which is divided into 8 groups P0 (positive control), P1 (60%), P2 (80%), P3 (100%) with 2 time series. Application of papaya juice in three times a day and the surgery was performed on day-1 and day-3. One Way ANOVA show the significant differences in papaya juice on the number of positive control and treatment groups. HSD test show the 1st day the number of neutrophil most decrease on P3 (100%) and day 3 on P6 (100%). Pearson correlation test show that decreasing number of neutrophil while increasing the concentration of papaya juice. The conclusion is papaya juice (Carica papaya L) can decrease number of neutrophil cells in acute inflammation post-gingivectomy in wistar (Rattus norvegicus).
