Abstract
Studi ini berkaitan dengan novel berjudul The Kite Runner yang ditulis oleh Khaled Hosseini. Analisis skripsi ini difokuskan pada Amir sebagai tokoh utama, berdasarkan pendekatan psikologis. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan teori perkembangan psikologi oleh Elizabeth B. Hurlock. Ini adalah teori yang menganalisis perkembangan kepribadian selama periode berabad-abad. Teori ini diindikasikan oleh sepuluh tahap dimana setiap tahap memiliki perkembangan spesifik tersendiri yang membentuk kepribadian individu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengembangan kepribadian Amir sebagai karakter utama dalam Khaled Hosseini The Kite Runner. Dengan mengenali teori Hurlock, pembaca akan dapat memahami perkembangan kepribadian Amir. Dari analisis tersebut penulis mendapatkan kesimpulan bahwa perkembangan kepribadian Amir dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman yang dialami Amir selama masa hidupnya, dari masa kanak-kanak hingga awal masa dewasa.
English Abstract
This study concerns with the novel entitled The Kite Runner which is written by Khaled Hosseini. The analysis of this thesis is focused on Amir as the main character. In doing this research, the writer uses psychology development theory by Elizabeth B. Hurlock. It is a theory which analyzes personality development through period of ages. This theory indicated in ten stages which every stage has own specific development that shaping the personality of the individual. The objective of this research is to analyze the personality development of Amir as the main character in Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner. By recognizing Hurlock’s theory, the reader will be able to understand Amir’s personality development. From the analysis the writer gets the conclusion that Amir’s personality development influenced by experiences that Amir encountered through his period of ages, from late childhood to early adulthood period.
