Abstract

Setiap individu pastinya memiliki perbedaan perasaan dalam menerima dan mengekspresikan rasa duka atau kecewa. Menghilangkan atau memanipulasi emosi-emosi negatif dengan pikiran positif tentunya sangat berbahaya jika itu dilakukan terus menerus. Hal ini yang dimaksud sebagai Toxic Positivity. Toxic Positivity adalah kondisi yang dimana seseorang menuntut dirinya sendiri maupun orang lain untuk selalu berfikir positif dengan mengabaikan emosi-emosi negatif atau sebagai generalisasi bahagia yang berlebihan. Faktor utama terjadinya toxic positivity adalah melalui ucapan. Selain itu, media sosial juga memiliki peran terjadinya toxic positivity di kehidupan kita. Serta, adanya mispresepsi oleh masayarakat yang kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang toxic positivity. Penulis menjadikan hal tersebut menjadi sumber ide penciptaan karya seni grafis dengan memvisualkan penyebab-penyebab terjadinya toxic positivity. Metode penciptaan yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan gagasan penulis merupakan metode dari penciptaan Alma M. Hawkins yakni Eksplorasi, Improvisasi, dan Farming. Eksplorasi merupakan proses awal yang dilakukan dalam pembuatan karya seni. Eksplorasi yang dilakukan penulis berupa eksplorasi ide, konsep, serta visual karya. Improvisasi merupakan tahap mencoba atau berkreasi memvisualkan konsep dalam bentuk sketsa. Pada tahap ini, penulis melakukan pembuatan sketsa dengan menggabungkan dari berbagai objek hasil eksplorasi. Tahap Farming merupakan tahap pembentukan suatu karya dari hasil eksplorasi serta hasil improvisasi. Dalam proses pembentukan, penulis menggunakan teknik seni grafis cetak tinggi dengan tambahan teknik handcoloring. Hasil akhir dari tahap farming tersebut berupa 7 karya seni grafis cetak tinggi dengan ukuran berbeda-beda yang berjudul antara lain: Lisan, Betopeng, Masa Kecil, Lihat Aku, Teman, Jangan Bersedih, Bebas.

English Abstract

Every individual surely has different feelings in receiving and expressing feelings of grief or disappointment. Eliminating or manipulating negative emotions with positive thoughts is certainly very dangerous if done continuously. This is what is referred to as Toxic Positivity. Toxic Positivity is a condition where someone demands themselves or others to always think positively by ignoring negative emotions or as an excessive generalization of happiness. The main factor in the occurrence of toxic positivity is through speech. In addition, social media also plays a role in the occurrence of toxic positivity in our lives. Also, there is a misconception by society about the lack of understanding of toxic positivity. The author uses this as a source of ideas for creating graphic art by visualizing the causes of toxic positivity. The creation method used to depict the author's ideas is the method of Alma M. Hawkins, namely Exploration, Improvisation, and Farming. Exploration is the initial process in the creation of artwork. The author's exploration includes exploring ideas, concepts, and visual works. Improvisation is a stage of trying or creatively visualizing concepts in the form of sketches. In this stage, the author creates sketches by combining various objects resulting from exploration. The Farming stage is the formation of artwork from exploration and improvisation results. In the formation process, the author uses the high-print graphic art technique with the addition of hand-coloring techniques. The final result of this farming stage is 7 high-print graphic artworks of different sizes, titled: Lisan, Betopeng, Masa Kecil, Lihat Aku, Teman, Jangan Bersedih, Bebas.
