Abstract

Limbah penggergajian kayu belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal dan penggunaan variasi jenis limbah serbuk kayu dengan resin epoxy untuk coating pada atap galvalum belum pernah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi jenis limbah serbuk kayu yaitu kayu sengon, pinus, meranti, dan mahoni terhadap penurunan temperatur ruangan pada proses composite coating atap galvalum, Penelitian ini melakukan uji penurunan temperatur ruangan menggunakan alat uji berupa miniature box yang terbuat dari kayu multipleks yang diberi atap galvalum terlapisi dengan composite coating. Pengujian dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan sinar matahari dan masing – masing spesimen diuji selama 10 menit. Pada alat uji telah diletakkan 4 thermocouple pada titik yang berbeda: 20cm diatas atap galvalum, menempel diatas coating galvalum, menempel dibawah atap galvalum, dan dalam ruangan alat uji 10cm diatas tanah. Hasil pengujian penurunan temperatur didapatkan diantara variasi jenis serbuk kayu yang digunakan, composite coating dengan serbuk kayu sengon memiliki penurunan temperatur rata – rata tertinggi yaitu 1,467°C dan terendah pada komposit serbuk kayu mahoni dengan nilai 1,293°C. Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan sifat unik dari limbah serbuk kayu dapat digunakan untuk komposit atap yang membantu menurunkan temperatur ruangan.

English Abstract

Sawmill waste has not been utilized optimally and the use of various types of sawdust waste with epoxy resin for coating on galvalume roofs has never been done. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the species of sawdust waste namely sengon, pine, meranti, and mahogany wood on decreasing room temperature with composite coating process on galvalume roof. This study conducted a room temperature reduction test using a test equipment in the form of a miniature box made of multiplex wood covered with a galvalume roof coated with a composite coating. The test was carried out by utilizing sunlight and each specimen was tested for 10 minutes. In the test equipment, 4 thermocouples have been placed at different points: 20cm above the galvalume roof, attached above the galvalume coating, attached under the galvalume roof, and inide the test equipment room 10cm above the ground. The results of the temperature reduction test were obtained among the various types of sawdust used, composite coating with sengon sawdust had the highest average temperature reduction of 1,467°C and the lowest was for the mahogany sawdust composite with a value of 1,293°C. From this study, it can be concluded that the unique properties of sawdust waste can be used for roofing composites that help reduce room temperature.
