Abstract

Mentimun merupakan tanaman dengan kadar air yang tinggi serta mengandung kalori yang rendah, tanaman ini juga banyak dimanfaatkan pada bidang kuliner, medis, dan kosmetik. Namun pada beberapa tahun terakhir produksi tanaman mentimun sendiri menurun. Salah satu penyebab terhambatnya pertumbuhan tanaman mentimun juga dikarenakan kehilangan unsur hara melalui limpasan juga pertumbuhan gulma disekitar tanaman yang menyebabkan kompetesi unsur hara antara tanaman mentimun juga gulma. Sehingga diperlukan penerapan mulsa pada budiaya tanaman mentimun. Upaya dalam peningkatan tanaman mentimun selain penggunaan mulsa, juga dapat dilakukan pemberian nutrisi terhadap tanaman mentimun yang nantinya akan mendukung pertumbuhan vegetative tanaman mentimun yaitu pupuk nitrogen. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan mulai bulan Februari hingga April 2023, di Lahan Percobaan Jatikerto Kecamatan Kromengan, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Rata rata suhu udara minimum di kecamatan Kromengan sekitar 20°C- 23°C, sedangkan suhu udara maksimum berkisar antara 30°C-32°C. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan 3 kali ulangan, faktor pertama yakni pemberian mulsa yang terdiri dari 2 taraf yakni tanpa mulsa dan mulsa plastik hitam perak. Faktor kedua jenis pupuk N yang terdiri dari 5 taraf yakni, 100% Urea, 100% ZA, 50 % Urea + 50% ZA, 25 % Urea + 75% ZA, 75% Urea + 25% ZA. Pertumbuhan mentimun menunjukkan interaksi antara pemberian mulsa dan jenis pupuk N. Pemberian mulsa menghasilkan luas daun pada umur 21-35 HSP yang signifikan dibandingkan tanpa mulsa. Jenis pupuk N perlakuan P3 (50% Urea : 50% ZA) menghasilkan luas daun yang signifikan pada umur 21, 28 dan 35 HSP pada perlakuan pemberian mulsa dan tanpa mulsa dibandingkan jenis pupuk N lainnya. Hasil panen mentimun menunjukkan interaksi antara pemberian mulsa dan jenis pupuk N. Pemberian mulsa menghasilkan panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot buah serta hasil panen per hektar yang signifikan dibandingkan perlakuan tanpa mulsa. Jenis pupuk N perlakuan P3 (50% Urea : 50% ZA) menghasilkan panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot buah serta hasil panen per hektar pada perlakuan pemberian mulsa dan tanpa mulsa masing masing sebesar 22,14%; 18,75%; 16,24%; 45,97%; dan 35,26% dibandingkan perlakuan jenis pupuk N lainny

English Abstract

Cucumber is a plant with a high water content and low calorie content, this plant is also widely used in the culinary, medical and cosmetic fields. However, in recent years the production of cucumber plants has decreased. One of the causes of stunted growth of cucumber plants is also due to the loss of nutrients through runoff as well as the growth of weeds around the plants which causes competition for nutrients between cucumber plants and weeds. So it is necessary to apply mulch in cucumber cultivation. Efforts to increase cucumber plants apart from using mulch can also be carried out by providing nutrients to cucumber plants which will later support vegetative growth of cucumber plants, namely nitrogen fertilizers. This research was conducted from February to April 2023, at the Jatikerto Experimental Field, Kromengan District, Malang Regency, East Java. The average minimum air temperature in Kromengan subdistrict is around 20°C-23°C, while the maximum air temperature ranges from 30°C-32°C. This study used a factorial randomized block design with 3 replications. The first factor was mulching which consisted of 2 levels, namely without mulch and silver black plastic mulch. The second factor is the type of N fertilizer which consists of 5 levels namely, 100% Urea, 100% ZA, 50% Urea + 50% ZA, 25% Urea + 75% ZA, 75% Urea + 25% ZA. Cucumber growth showed an interaction between mulching and the type of N fertilizer. Mulching resulted in significant leaf area at 21-35 HSP compared to no mulch. The type of N fertilizer treatment P3 (50% Urea : 50% ZA) produced significant leaf area at the age of 21, 28 and 35 HSP in the mulch treatment and without mulch compared to other types of N fertilizer. Cucumber yields showed an interaction between the application of mulch and the type of N fertilizer. The application of mulch produced fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight and yield per hectare which were significant compared to the treatment without mulch. The type of N fertilizer treatment P3 (50% Urea : 50% ZA) produced fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight and yield per hectare in the mulch treatment and without mulch each of 22.14%; 18.75%; 16.24%; 45.97%; and 35.26% compared to other types of N fertilizer treatment.
