Abstract

INGKASAN RAKA FAUZI MITREKA. 195040200111199. Uji Daya Hasil Jagung Pakan (Zea mays L.) Dari Hasil Top Cross. Dibawah bimbingan Prof. Ir. Arifin Noor Sugiharto, MSc., Ph.D.

English Abstract

SUMMARY Raka Fauzi Mitreka. 195040200111199. Yield Test of Yellow Corn (Zea mays L.) From the Results of Top Cross. Supervised by Prof. Ir. Arifin Noor Sugiharto, MSc., Ph.D. Yellow corn (Zea mays L.) is important as animal feed and industrial raw material. In addition to rice, the need for corn as an alternative to carbohydrate needs is increasing along with the increase in population. One of the reasons for the increase in market demand is the development of the livestock industry, which in its production process requires corn as a mixture of animal feed. The use of hybrid varieties is one of the solutions to increase domestic corn production, especially for fodder maize. This research was conducted in September-December 2022 at the Experimental Garden of Agrotechnopark (ATP) Brawijaya University which is located in Jatikerto Village, Kromengan District, Malang Regency, East Java. The tools used in this research are hoe, sickle, scissors, analytical scale, ruler, meter, digital camera, permanent marker, gray cloth, label paper (mecollin), alphaboard, and sprayer. The materials used were 27 genotypes of maize for S2 generation from top cross and 1 genotype of maize for hybrid feed as a comparison variety. The study was conducted using a Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. The spacing used is 60 cm x 30 cm x 90 cm. Variables observed included stem diameter, silk color, anther color, glume color, age of anthesis, age of silking, plant height, cob height, number of cobs, weight of cob per plot, weight of biomass, cob weight with cornhusk, cob weight without cornhusk, number of rows of seeds, length of the cob, length of the stalks, diameter of the cob, cob weight, the weight of 100 seeds, weight of seed, seed yield, potential yield per hectare. The data obtained is then tested using analysis of variance with the F test (ANOVA) at a 5% level. If the results obtained are significantly different, then it is continued by using the 5% BNJ test. The results of research that has been conducted on each character, it was found that each line tested on silk, anther, and glume color observations had characters with different levels of uniformity percentage scores. While the total potential scores of the 27 lines tested on quantitative characters, there are 8 lines that have the potential for high performance values above the average of all lines and compared to the comparison variety Syngenta Perkasa (NK6172). The lines are UB1, UB9, UB12, UB13, UB14, UB15, UB17, and UB23 have the potential to be developed. Meanwhile it was found that the KKG, KKF, and Heritability values for the 19 observed characters were in the low to high category.
