Abstract
The gig economy is a new economic sector that is synonymous with the digital revolution and flexibility in working hours, so that the gig work system is more efficient than formal jobs. The gig economy is considered a profitable economic sector because it is considered more efficient. On the other hand, the gig economy is also considered an economic sector that provides career uncertainty and adequate workforce protection. Based on the pros and cons that occurred, this study aims to determine the factors that motivate workers to choose to work in the gig economy. In conducting the analysis, data processing was carried out with logit regression according to the characteristics of the variables. The results of this study are women, increased income, fresh graduates, non-certified workers, and workers in Java tend to work in the gig economy sector. Meanwhile, increasing age tends not to work in the gig economy sector. It is hoped that this research will be able to provide a reference for the government and companies engaged in the gig economy in order to improve the quality of gig labor regulations.
