Abstract

English Abstract

Eel is a type of fish that has high economic value with an export volume of over 25%. In 2019-2020, Indonesia is the number one exporter of eels on the world market with the highest market demand, namely Japan, amounting to 30.14%. High market demand is not matched by total production with a large capacity. It is known that Indonesia is only able to realize production of 500 tons out of a projected total of 12.000 tons. Several studies have been conducted to optimize the growth of eels, including by improving the quality of the feed which is determined based on the macro and micro nutrient content of the feed including protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. The silver eel stage is a transition to gonad maturity so that the energy requirement is quite large, both used for tissue growth and the gonad maturation process. Therefore, in order to maintain water quality, adequate water changes are needed. Water change is the process of replacing the water in the maintenance container using new water with a certain percentage. This research method used a completely randomized design with a combination of 3 treatments and 3 replications. There was treatment A with a 10% water change, treatment B with a 30% water change and also treatment C with a total of 50% water change. The maintenance was carried out for 38 days where during the rearing period, the eels were given 1 pro eel paste feed with a protein content of 47% twice a day. %FR used in maintenance is 2%. The results of the treatment of the difference in the percentage of water change on water quality, growth rate in length and daily weight (SGR), absolute growth rate (GR), and survival rate (SR) were analyzed by ANOVA and last test using SPSS software. Water quality in treatments A (10% water change), B (30% water change), and C (50% water change) did not differ significantly in temperature, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate but significantly differed in dissolved oxygen levels ( DO). The most optimal DO levels were found in treatment B (7.12 ± 0.09 mg/L) and C (7.08 ± 0.09 mg/L) and the lowest was in treatment A (6.76 ± 0.11 mg/L). Whereas for SGR and GR in this study showed significantly different results between treatments. The highest SGR and GR values were obtained in treatment C with a value of 0.36 ± 0.07%/day, 0.29±0.05%/day and 15.93±3.39 g/day and then followed by treatment B with a value of 0.18±0.03%/day, 0.21±0.07% / day and 8.94 ± 2.80 g / day. The lowest treatment was A, which yielded 0.06 ± 0.04%/day, 0.11±0.06%/day, and 2.58±1.56 gr/day. Survival in this study had no significantly different values but the lowest value was obtained in treatment A of 98.3%.
