Abstract

Hijauan pakan ternak merupakan bahan pakan utama bagi ternak ruminansia. Kelangkaan hijauan sering terjadi karena musim, perubahan fungsi lahan, dan faktor lainnya. Di antara jenis tanaman pakan, koro benguk (Mucuna pruriens) memiliki keunggulan sebagai tanaman leguminosa yang dapat bertahan hidup pada musim kemarau, tumbuh di daerah kurang subur, dan dapat mengendalikan gulma. Meskipun demikian, biji koro benguk belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sebagai bahan pangan atau pakan ternak. Dalam analisis pertumbuhan tanaman koro benguk, luas daun menjadi parameter penting yang dapat diukur dengan berbagai metode, tergantung pada kondisi di lapangan. Koro benguk (Mucuna pruriens) merupakan anggota famili Leguminoceae dan merupakan tanaman indigenus di negara tropik seperti India, Nigeria, dsb. Tanaman ini umumnya dikenal dengan nama koro benguk (Jawa), cowhage (Latin), dan kapikacchu (Sansekerta). Koro benguk (Mucuna pruriens) di Indonesia dikenal sebagai jenis kacang-kacangan dengan kandungan karbohidratnya lebih tinggi dibandingkan kedelai.

English Abstract

Forage is the main feed ingredient for ruminants. But now, scarcity of forage often occurs, it can be due to seasons, changes in land use, and other factors. Among forage crops, Koro benguk (Mucuna pruriens) has the advantage of being a leguminous plant that can survive the dry season, grow in less fertile areas, and can control weeds. So therefore, Koro Benguks' bean seeds have not been utilized optimally as food or animal feed. In the analysis of the growth of Koro Benguk, leaf area is an important parameter that can be measured by various methods, depending on the conditions in the field. This study aims to determine the accuracy of the leaf area estimation model in obtaining leaf area data based on the millimeter block method, leaf circumference and leaf weight. With the case study research method, the researchers took 50 leaf stalks from the Koro Benguk plant consisting of 3 leaflets that were 90 days old under normal conditions growing in an area that was free of shade or received direct sunlight, as a sample in this study. This study used regression analysis with the help of the Minitab-15 computer program. The value of leaf area measurement using the millimeter block method, leaf weight and leaf circumference are used as independent variables (x), while the value of leaf area (LAM) is used as the dependent variable.
