Abstract

English Abstract

Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGP) as feed additives can increase growth efficiency and egg production, prevent disease and increase feed utilization. Turmeric can be used as a feed additive because of its high antioxidant activity. The high content of antioxidants that are antimicrobial makes turmeric a Natural Growth Promoter (NGP) material that is widely used in the livestock industry. To maximize the benefits of turmeric, researchers use nano methods to supplement nutrients from turmeric. Nanotechnology changes the particle size of turmeric to nano size (1-100 nanometers) which is expected to make it easier for quails to digest nutrients from turmeric thereby accelerating turmeric's performance in the body of turmeric so as to increase egg quality (egg weight, eggshell thickness, egg index, specific gravity, egg white weight, yolk weight, and Haugh Unit). This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions to determine the effect of the nutritional content of nano turmeric on the external and internal quality of quail eggs. The treatment used a different of nano level with P0 as the control treatment, P1 0.1% nano turmeric, P2 0.2% nano turmeric, and P3 0.3% nano turmeric. The results of the study showed that uses of nano turmeric had no vi significant effect (P>0.05) on egg weight, eggshell thickness, egg index, specific gravity, egg white weight, yolk weight, and Haugh Unit. However, it had a significantly different effect (P<0.05) on eggshell weight. The conclusion of this study is that giving nano turmeric can improve the quality of quail eggs externally, especially the weight of egg shell and tends to increase egg weight and internal eggs quality also.
