Abstract
English Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic crisis is an economic disaster that attacks almost all countries in the world, and has an impact on international economic activity. Financial integration activities through economic blocks are economic cooperation to help increase productivity and economic growth. Entering a crisis, financial integration is expected to have a crisis-recovering effect. The aims of this study is to examine the effect of foreign direct investment and foreign portfolio investment on economic growth, and moderated by labor productivity growth in G20 countries before and during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. This study took a sample of 20 official G20 countries, and the method used was panel data regression analysis (fixed effect model). The output of this study has findings: First, partially foreign portfolio investment has no significant effect on economic growth before and during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, while foreign direct investment has proven to have a significant effect on economic growth before and during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, this shows that foreign direct investment has a recovery effect during the crisis. Second, simultaneously foreign portfolio investment and foreign direct investment have a significant effect on economic growth before and during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. This shows that financial integration in foreign investment is an important contributor to the economies of the G20 countries. Third, labor productivity growth has been proven to be moderating by strengthening the influence foreign direct investment on economic growth before the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, but has no effect moderating on foreign portfolio investment. During the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, labor productivity growth has no effect on moderating the influence of foreign portfolio investment and foreign direct investment on economic growth. This is due to the restrictions on activities during the crisis, and the decline in labor productivity in the G20 countries
