Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis karakteristik kualitatif fenotipik kambing Pote di Desa Soket Laok, Kecamatan Tragah, Kabupaten Bangkalan, Pulau Madura. Materi yang digunakan adalah 200 ekor kambing Pote dengan rentang umur 6 bulan sampai 4 tahun. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif yang meliputi survei dan wawancara. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Ciri fenotip meliputi bentuk ambing, bentuk telinga, bentuk tanduk, pupil mata, profil wajah, garis punggung, bulu surai (rewos), dan profil janggut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik fenotipe kambing Pote yang dominan adalah ambing berbentuk kantong, telinga panjang terkulai, tanduk pipih, pupil berbentuk persegi panjang, profil wajah cembung, garis punggung lurus, surai panjang (rewos), dan tidak berjanggut. Kambing Pote memiliki kesamaan dengan kambing lainnya seperti kambing Senduro. Spesifikasi umum dan persyaratan kualitatif kambing Senduro dalam SNI 7325.3:2018 adalah ambing kendi atau botol, warna tubuh keseluruhan putih, profil wajah cembung, telinga panjang, menggantung terkulai, tanduk jantan dan betina tidak bertanduk sampai bertanduk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kambing pote memiliki karakteristik kualitatif pada ambing berupa kendi atau botol, warna tubuh seluruhnya putih, profil wajah cembung, dan bertanduk baik pada jantan maupun betina.
English Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the phenotypic qualitative characteristics of Pote goats in Soket Laok Village, Tragah District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura Island. The material used was 200 Pote goats with an age range from 6 months to 4 years. The method used is a descriptive method which includes conducting surveys and interviews. Data were obtained using a purposive sampling technique. Phenotypic features include udder shape, ear shape, horn shape, eye pupils, facial profile, dorsal line, mane ruff (rewos), and beard profile. The results showed that the dominant phenotypic characteristics of Pote goats were pitcher-shaped udders, long drooping ears, flattened horns, rectangular pupils, convex facial profile, straight back line, long mane ruff (rewos), and no beard. Pote goats have similarities with other goats such as Senduro goats. The general specifications and qualitative requirements of Senduro goats in SNI 7325.3:2018 are jug or bottle udder, white body color throughout, convex facial profile, long ears, hanging drooping, horns of males and females hornless to horned. The results showed that pote goats have qualitative characteristics in the form of jug or bottle udders, completely white body color, convex facial profile, and horned both in males and females.
