Abstract
Periodontal pack telah sering dilakukan pemberian penambahan anti inflamasi dan antibiotik akan tetapi dapat menimbulkan reaksi alergi, sehingga diperlukan bahan alternatif pengganti yang dapat mempercepat proses penyembuhan luka tanpa menimbulkan efek samping, diantaranya tanaman herbal seperti kulit jeruk nipis. Penambahan dengan ekstrak kulit jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) pada periodontal pack memiliki kandungan zat aktif dengan efek anti inflamasi, antioksidan, antimikroba dan antibakteri sehingga dapat menyebabkan proses penyembuhan luka dengan cepat salah satunya di tandai dengan menurunkan produksi jumlah limfosit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak kulit jeruk nipis (Citrus auratifolia Swingle) pada periodontal pack terhadap jumlah limfosit pada preparat gingiva kelinci. Sampel yang digunakan 32 kelinci New Zealand White yang dilukai pada gingiva mandibula menggunakan punch biopsy berdiameter 2 mm. Hewan coba dibagi menjadi 8 kelompok masing-masing pada hari ke- 3 dan ke-5, yaitu kelompok kontrol diaplikasikan periodontal pack tanpa pemberian ekstrak kulit jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle), dan kelompok perlakuan diaplikasikan periodontal pack dengan pemberian ekstrak. Pengamatan preparat histologi menggunakan pewarnaan HE untuk dipergunakan menghitung jumlah limfosit. Hasil uji statistik didapatkan perbedaan signifikan jumlah limfosit antara kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan pada hari ke-3 dan hari ke-5 (ANOVA, p<0,05). Kesimpulannya pemberian ekstrak kulit jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) pada periodontal pack dapat mempengaruhi penurunan jumlah limfosit preparat gingiva kelinci.
English Abstract
Periodontal packs have often been given additional anti- inflammatory and antibiotic medications, but they can cause allergic reactions, so alternative materials are needed that can accelerate the wound healing process without causing side effects, including herbal plants such as lime peel. The addition of lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) peel extract to the periodontal pack contains active substances with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antibacterial effects so that it can cause a fast wound healing process, one of which is marked by reducing the production of lymphocytes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lime (Citrus auratifolia Swingle) peel extract on periodontal packs and the number of lymphocytes in rabbit gingival preparations. The sample used was 32 New Zealand white rabbits, which were injured on the mandibular gingiva using a punch biopsy with a diameter of 2 mm. On the third and fifth days, the experimental animals were divided into eight groups: the control group received a periodontal pack without lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) peel extract, and the treatment group received a periodontal pack with extract. An observation of histological preparations using HE staining was used to count the number of lymphocytes. Statistical test results showed a significant difference in the number of lymphocytes between the control group and the treatment group on days 3 and 5 (ANOVA, p 0.05). In conclusion, giving lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) peel extract to the periodontal tissue can affect the decrease in the number of gingival lymphocytes in rabbits
