Abstract
English Abstract
As one of the shallot-producing areas, the shallot production rate in Malang Regency is still far behind compared to other areas, so efforts to increase crop production are needed. One of the efforts to optimize resources and increase crop production is through the application of a combination of inorganic fertilizers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of a combination of inorganic fertilizers on the availability of soil nutrients and nutrient uptake (N, P, K, Ca, and Mg), and to determine the effect of the application of a combination of inorganic fertilizers on the growth and production of shallots. This research was conducted at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya located in Jatimulyo Village, Malang City in September – November 2021. The research design used a Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 8 (eight) treatments and 3 (three) replications. The treatments applied include: 1) V0 (Without fertilization); 2) V1 (100% NPK and ZA fertilizer); 3) V2 (100% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 50% Liquid inorganic fertilizer); 4) V3 (100% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 100% Liquid inorganic fertilizer); 5) V4 (100% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 150% Liquid inorganic fertilizer); 6) V5 (75% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 50% Liquid inorganic fertilizer); 7) V6 (75% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 100% Liquid inorganic fertilizer); 8) V7 (75% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 150% Liquid inorganic fertilizer). Shallots were planted on an area of 450 m2 with the size of each treatment plot of 2.6 x 5.4 m2. The parameters of soil chemical properties observed were pH, total N, available P, K-dd, Ca-dd and Mg-dd. The parameters of plant nutrient uptake that were observed were plant N, P, K, Ca and Mg uptake. Parameters of plant growth and production included number of tillers per clump, number of leaves per clump, plant height per clump, dry weight of tuber per clump, and number of tubers per clump. The data were analyzed for variance (ANOVA) at the 5% level to determine the effect of treatment on the observed parameters. If there is a significant effect, further Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test at 5% level is carried out to determine the best treatment. The analysis was carried out using R software and Microsoft Excel. The application of a combination of solid and liquid inorganic fertilizers gave a significant effect (p < 0,05) on increasing plant height in the early stages of growth, number of leaves, and number of tillers. The application of a combination of solid and liquid inorganic fertilizers had a significant effect (p < 0,05) on increasing the dry weight of tubers up to 157% as compared to the control treatment but had no significant effect on the number of tubers. The application of a combination of solid and liquid inorganic fertilizers also has a significant effect on increasing the availability of nutrients N, P, K, Ca, and Mg in the soil as well as nutrient uptake of N, P, K, and Ca. In general, the best dose of solid and liquid inorganic fertilizer combination that can be applied is V5 treatment (75% NPK and ZA fertilizer + 50% Liquid inorganic fertilizer).
