Abstract

English Abstract

Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is a fishery commodity that has high economic value. The advantages of vaname shrimp include having a strong resistance when attacked by disease, having a high appetite, surviving in an unfavorable environment, high survival rate, and can be stocked with high density. In vaname shrimp cultivation activities can be done with several techniques, namely intensive techniques and super-intensive techniques. The main difference between the two techniques is stocking density. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the differences in the growth of vaname shrimp in the two techniques. The research was conducted at PT. Suri Tani Pemuka, Bomo Unit 1, Banyuwangi Regency. The types of pools used in the study were HDPE pools and fiber pools. The area of each pond is 3,204 m2 for the intensive technique with a stocking density of 144 ind/m2 while the super-intensive technique is 78 m2 with a stocking density of 562 ind/m2. The research method used is comparative descriptive. The test parameters in this study include Mean Body Weight (MBW), Average Daily Growth (ADG), Feed Conversion Rate (FCR), Survival Rate (SR), and water quality including temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, nitrite, nitrate, ammonium. Based on the results of research conducted on the growth of vaname shrimp, intensive and super-intensive techniques are influenced by several factors, namely stocking density and water quality. The results of the comparative analysis of the MBW and ADG values of the intensive technique had better growth than the super-intensivee technique. The highest MBW and ADG values were for intensive and super-intensive techniques, around 13.56 grams/ind; 0.47 grams/day, and 8.05 grams/ind; 0.4 gram/day.A comparison of FCR and SR shows the effect of intensive technique an super-intensiveve technique on the value of FCR and SR, intensive technique shows better results than super intensive technique. The FCR results for the intensive technique were in the range of 1,27 while the super-intensive technique was in the range of 1,36. The survival rates of intensive and super-intensive techniques are 92% and 85%, respectively. Good water quality can support the growth of vaname shrimp as in the intensive technique. Shrimp growth with intensive technique is higher than super-intensive technique. This is supported by the low FCR and high SR. Water quality in intensive technique is influenced by several parameters. Intensive technique are influenced by temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen while superintensive technique include nitrite, nitrate, ammonium and salinity.
