(Hemiptera: Delphacidae) Dan Dampaknya Terhadap Kompleks Predator Pada Tanaman Di Tumpang, Malang. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Brown planthopper (BPH) is the main pest that can cause damage to up to 20- 80% of rice plants. BPH control in rice plants still depends on the use of synthetic insecticides, including buprofezin. With the background that buprofezin is safe, and the control of BPH has not been successful, it is necessary to conduct a field trial. This study aims to determine the effect of buprofezin on the population of BPH and predator complex in rice plants. The research was carried out in irrigated rice fields located in Pulungdowo Village, Tumpang District, Malang Regency. The time of the study was carried out in the rainy season from October to November 2021. The treatments consisted of a concentration of buprofezin insecticide 0 (control); 0.25; 0.5; 0.75; 1 ml/l, with 5 repetitions. Treatment plots measuring 4 x 5 m with 5 sample plants were taken diagonally. Observations on populations of BPH (nymphs and imago) and predators of Lycosa sp., Cyrtorhinus sp., Paederus sp., and Micraspis sp. done directly. Preliminary observations were made when the rice plants were 60 DAP and thereafter up to six observations with an interval of 1 week after application. The data were analyzed using the f test and continued with the DMRT further test with an error rate of 5%. As for the calculation of the effectiveness of the insecticide buprofezin using the Abbot formula. Results of variance; BPH nymph and imago populations were evenly distributed in the experimental plot on preliminary observations. Observations were continued six times, the population of BPH nymphs and imagos was lower in the treatment with a buprofezin concentration of 0.25-1 ml/l compared to the control (not sprayed buprofezin). BPH nymph and imago populations at all concentrations of buprofezin were effective in controlling BPH populations in rice plants compared to controls during the experiment. However, in calculating the effectiveness of insecticides, buprofezin concentration of 0.50 ml/l was effective in suppressing the nymph and imago populations of BPH because it had an efficacy value of >70%. While the observation of predator populations Lycosa sp., Cyrtorhinus sp., Paederus sp., and Micraspis sp. in the treatment the concentration of buprofezin 0.25-1 ml/l was lower than the control treatment. These results indicate that the application of buprofezin has an impact on the complex population of predators
