Abstract
Film merupakan salah satu bentuk karya sastra untuk menyampaikan berbagai pesan kepada publik melalui media cerita. Banyak pembuat film ingin membawa fakta dari lingkungan ke dalam karya mereka, mengangkat isu-isu menarik, dan membuka mata orang terhadap apa yang terjadi saat ini. Salah satunya adalah isu patriarki. Peneliti memilih Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020) by Cathy Yan untuk diteliti karena terdapat isu patriarki di dalamnya. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan teori patriarki milik Sylvia Walby untuk membantu peneliti menemukan perilaku patriarki yang dialami oleh karakter wanita pada film tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian yang didapatkan penulis dari data terkumpul menunjukkan bahwa ada tiga jenis patriarki yang muncul dalam film ini, yaitu: (1) Patriarchal System in Employment, (2) Male Violence Against Women, dan (3) Women as Sex Object. Berdasarkan penemuan tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa masih banyak perbuatan patriarki yang dialami para wanita seperti tergambar pada film Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020). Perbuatan patriarki yang dilakukan para pria tersebut diakibatkan oleh adanya pemikiran dimana mereka lebih superior di atas wanita dalam kehidupan, sehingga wanita hanya sebagai pelengkap kehidupan mereka dan bahkan hanya dipandang sebagai obyek belaka.
English Abstract
Movie is a form of literary work to convey various messages to the public through story media. Many filmmakers want to bring facts from the environment into their work, raise interesting issues, and open people's eyes to what is happening right now. One of them is the issue of patriarchy. The researcher chose the Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020) by Cathy Yan to study because there are patriarchal issues in it. This study uses Sylvia Walby's patriarchal theory to help the researcher find the patriarchal behavior experienced by the female characters in the movie. The results of the research obtained by the researcher from the collected data show that there are three types of patriarchy in this movie, namely: (1) Patriarchal System in Employment, (2) Male Violence Against Women, and (3) Women as Sex Object. Based on these findings, the researcher concluded that there are still many patriarchal acts experienced by women as depicted in the Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020) movie. This patriarchal behavior carried out by men is caused by the idea that they are superior to women in life so that women are only a complement to their lives and even seen as mere objects.
