Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan kajian performans produksi dan reproduksi sapi Bali pada dua ketinggian tempat yang berbeda di Kecamatan Bajawa dan Kecamatan Bajawa Utara (1000 m dpl) untuk dataran tinggi, dan Kecamatan Riung Barat dan Golewa Selatan (100 m dpl) untuk dataran rendah, Kabupaten Ngada, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Penelitian survey dilakukan terhadap 246 ekor (Produksi) 59 ekor (Reproduksi) ekos sapi yang dipilih secara purposive sampling yaitu induk yang sudah pernah melahirkan minimal 1 kali di lokasi penelitian. Data primer terhadap Bobot Lahir, Bobot Sapih, Bobot Dewasa Dan Pertambahan Bobot Badan Harian (PBBH), Umur Pertama Kawin (UPK), Umur Beranak Pertama (KB), Service per Conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR), Days Open (DO), Calving Interval (CI) diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan peternak, sedangkan variabel Fertility Index (FI) diperoleh melalui perhitungan dengan melibatkan data CR, S/C dan DO. Hasil penelitian produksi menunjukan ketinggian tempat dan lokasi berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0.05) pertambahan Bobot Badan Harian (PBBH), Bobot Sapih, Bobot Badan umur 2-3 tahun dan bobot umur 4 tahun sapi Bali, PBBH 0,61±0,02 Kg dan 0,53±0,19 Kg, Bobot Badan Pedet 16,02±4,87 Kg dan 13,58±3,41 Kg. Bobot sapih 73,77±20,28 Kg dan 69,88±14,51 Kg, Bobot Badan Bali 2- 3 tahun 168,57±26,29 Kg dan160,97±21,01 Kg,Bobot Badan umur 4 tahun 404±89,20 Kg dan 366,14±95,20. Terdapat perbedaan yang nyata (P<0.05) untuk umur 3-4 Tahun 289,74±35,30 Kg dan 247,25±20,57 Kg. Hasil penelitian reproduksi menunjukan ketinggian tempat dan lokasi berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0.05) terhadap umur pertama kali kawin, S/C, CR dan CI (UKP: 1,87±0,10 dan 1,90±0,10 tahun; S/C: 1,36±0,49 dan 1,16±0,37; CR: 76,38±14,06% dan 87,85±17,69%; dan CI: 457,20±7,65 hari dan 459,60±12,90, untuk dataran tinggi dan dataran rendah). Terdapat perbedaan yang nyata (P<0.05) untuk sifat DO antara dataran tinggi dan dataran rendah berturut-turut 151,20±4,15 hari dan dataran rendah 161,20±11,72 hari. Disimpulkan, performans reproduksi sapi Bali di dataran tinggi Kabupaten Ngada lebih bagus daripada di dataran rendah. English Abstract

his study was carried out to evaluate the productive and reproductive performance of Bali cattle at two different altitude areas, namely in Bajawa and North Bajawa districts (1,000 m above sea level) for high altitude areas and West Riung and South Golewa districts (100 m above sea level) for low altitude areas of Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This survey study was conducted on 246 heads and 59 heads of Bali cattle for productive and reproductive performance assessments, respectively. The Bali cattle were selected by purposive sampling with the criteria of had at least one time of calving at the study location. The primary data of birth weight (BiW), weaning weight (WW), body weight at 2-3 years old (BW2-3), body weight at 3-4 years old (BW3-4), body weight at 4 years old (BW4), daily weight gain (DWG), age at first mating (AFM), service per conception (S/C), conception rate (CR), days open (DO), and calving interval (CI) were taken through interview with the farmers, while fertility index (FI) was calculated using S/C, CR, and DO data. The results of productive performance showed that the altitudes did not significantly (P>0.05) affect BiW, WW, BW2-3, BW4, and DWG. The BiW were 16.02±4.87 and 13.58±3.41 kg, the WW were 73.77±20.28 and 69.88±14.51 kg, the BW2-3 were 168.57±26.29 and 160.97±21.01 kg, the BW4 were 404±89.20 and 366.14±95.20 kg, and the DWG were 0.61±0.02 and 0.53±0.19 kg for Bali cattle at high and low altitude areas, respectively. There was a significantly different (P<0.05) of BW3-4 with 289.74±35.30 and 247.25±20.57 kg for those at high and low altitude areas, respectively. The results of reproductive performance showed that the altitude areas had no significant effect (P>0.05) on AFM, S/C, CR, and CI. The AFM were 1.87±0.10 and 1.90±0.10 years, the S/C were 1.36±0.49 and 1.16±0.37, the CR were 76.38±14.06 and 87.85±17.69%, and the CI were 457.20±7.65 and 459.60±12.90 days for Bali cattle at high and low altitude areas, respectively. There was a significantly different (P<0.05) of DO between the high and low altitude areas with the results of 151.20±4.15 and 161.20±11.72 days, respectively. In conclusion, the reproductive performance of Bali cattle at high altitude areas of Ngada Regency is better than those at low altitude areas.
