English Abstract

Brown's gas is one of alternative energy gained from drycell water electrolysis process. Electrolysis of water is decomposition of water (H2O) into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2) by using an electric current through the water. The tool used to produce Brown's gas by water electrolysis called HHO Generator. This research uses HHO dry cell generator with electrode made from Copper, Brass, Aluminum and Stainless Steel and using O-Ring as electrode gap. The electrode gap thickness used is 1.5, 1.8, 2 and 3 mm. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of Material and Gap of electrode Variation on Brown's Production Drycell Type. The electric current used is DC 10 Ampere, the volume of water in electrolyte solution is 2.5 liters, the percentage catalyst (NaOH) is 1.77% and the ambient temperature is kept constant. The results of this study are variations of gap and material Electrode used in HHO generator affect Brown's gas productivity and efficiency. The highest productivity of Brown's gas is in the configuration of 1.5 mm thickness of electrode gap with Stainless Steel material productivity value is 0.022160 l/s, while for the lowest productivity is in the configuration of 3 mm electrode gap with aluminum material with productivity value 0.012622 l/s. The highest efficiency of HHO Generator is in configuration of 1.5 mm electrode gap with stainless steel material with value of 62.50%, while for the lowest efficiency found in electrode gap 3 mm with aluminum electrode material with the value of 17.33%.
