Lestari, Yuni and La Choviya Hawa,, S.TP., MP., PhD and Dr. Ir. Bambang Susilo,, M.Sc. Agr (2022) Analisis Total Fenol dan Flavonoid Berdasarkan Varietas dan Tingkat Bagian Batang Tebu (Saccharum officinarum L.) Dengan Menggunakan Metode Maserasi. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
Seiring bertambahnya waktu produksi gula semakin bertambah.
English Abstract
Over time, the production of sugar increases. However, there are obstacles in the cultivation of sugarcane in Indonesia, one of which is pests and diseases so that it needs to be handled for this problem. In sugarcane stalks there are compounds that are less desirable, namely phenolic compounds that can change the color of sugar darker. Meanwhile, for the growth and defense of sugarcane, phenolic compounds are needed. The aim of this study was to analyze the total phenolic and flavonoid content in sugarcane stalks of three sugarcane varieties. This research was carried out by extraction by maceration method with 70% ethanol as solvent. In this study, three high yielding varieties were used, namely sugarcane varieties BL (Bululawang), PS 881, and PS 862. The sugarcane stalks used were the top, middle, and bottom cane stalks. The results of the study will be seen based on the total phenolic content test and the total flavonoid test using a UV- Vis spectrophotometer. Data analysis used Analysis of Varience (ANOVA) with 5% confidence, then carried out with further tests, namely the Least significant difference (LSD) test. The results of the ANOVA test showed that the treatment of different varieties and levels of stem sections had very significant differences in the value of total phenol, total flavonoid, and sugarcane juice rate. The results showed that the treatment of varieties and stems of sugarcane to the total phenol value produced the largest average, namely the Bululawang variety of 4.26 mg GAE/g, and the upper stem treatment of 4,45 mg GAE/g. In the treatment of varieties and stems of sugarcane to the total flavonoid value, the highest average was obtained, namely the BL variety with a value of 2.92 mg QE/g, while in the upper stem it was 2.56 mg QE/g.
