Abstract

FSH receptor in the plasmic membrane of the male’s Sertoli cell and female’s Granulosa cell is essential for receiving FSH, which is needed in regulating there productive system. Polymorphism in FSH receptor gene can potentially influence reproduction and cattle performance in general. This research aimed to identify FSH receptor gene polymorphism influence on bull’s reproductive perfor- mance, including the diameter of testes, bull’s body score condition, and sperm concentration. Blood samples were collected from thirteen FH bulls in BBIB Singosari. Gene polymorphism of FSH receptor was identified by using PCR-RFLP. Correlation between polymorphisms and performance was determined using Spearman’s Rank Correlation Coefficient. The result showed that there was a positive correlation between G>T polymorphism and BCS (r= 0.54) and the diameter of the testes (r= 0.43). Nevertheless, we found out that G>T polymorphism had both negative and weak correlations related to sperm concentration (r= -0.3501423). Based on this statistical analysis, we concluded that the bull’s reproductive performance could be affected by a polymorphism in FSH receptor gene, even though the correlation to a specific trait may found to vary.
