Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji secara empiris pengaruh penerapan prinsip-prinsip good university governance dan komitmen organisasional terhadap kinerja organisasi dengan pendekatan Kanji’s Business Excellence Model, serta peran penerapan prinsip-prinsip good university governance dalam memediasi pengaruh komitmen organisasional terhadap kinerja organisasi. Pengembangan model penelitian dilakukan dengan menguji dan menganalisis ulang, baik pengaruh langsung komitmen organisasional dan penerapan prinsip-prinsip good university governance terhadap kinerja organisasi maupun pengaruh tidak langsung komitmen organisasional melalui penerapan prinsip-prinsip good university governance. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksplanatoris dengan pendekatan kuantitatif (positivist). Penelitian eksplanatoris dipilih karena penelitian ini berupaya untuk menguji hubungan kausalitas antara variabel melalui pengujian hipotesis. Populasi target dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pegawai di Universitas Ma Chung, sementara pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling yaitu dengan mengambil seluruh pegawai yang memegang jabatan struktural dalam organisasi. Jumlah responden direncanakan 35 orang dan berdasarkan kuesioner yang kembali dan lengkap berjumlah 32. Model analisis yang digunakan adalah model struktural dengan pendekatan Partial Least Square (PLS) dengan analisis menggunakan aplikasi software WARPLS 6.0. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa komitmen organisasi memiliki pengaruh yang tidak signifikan terhap kinerja organisasi, sementara penerapan prinsip-prinsip good university governance memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dan positif terhadap kinerja organisasi. Hasil dari uji mediasi yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan prinsip-prinsip good university governance memediasi secara sempurna pengaruh komitmen organiasional terhadap kinerja organisasi. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk mempertimbangkan aspek eksternal dalam penilaian kinerja, seperti tersedia dalam konsep Kanji’s Business Excellence Measurement System. Selain itu, penelitian dapat dilakukan pada sejumlah institusi pendidikan yang lebih beragam untuk menghasilkan pemetaan lengkap terkait kondisi perguruan tinggi swasta yang ada di Indonesia.

English Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine empirically the effect of applying the principles of good university governance and organizational commitment to organizational performance with the Kanji's Business Excellence Model approach, as well as the role of applying good university governance principles in mediating the effect of organizational commitment on organizational performance. The development of research models is carried out by testing and re-analyzing, both the direct influence of organizational commitment and the application of the principles of good university governance to organizational performance and the indirect impact of organizational commitment through the implementation of the principles of good university governance. This study categorized as explanatory research with a quantitative methodology. Explanatory research was chosen because of its attempt to test the causality relationships among variables by hypothesis testing. The target population in this study were all employees at Ma Chung University, while sampling was done by purposive sampling method, namely by taking all employees holding structural positions in the organization. The number of respondents was planned for 35 people and based on the returned and complete questionnaire totaling 32. The analysis model used was a structural model with a Partial Least Square (PLS) approach with analysis using the WARPLS 6.0 software application. The results of this study reveal that organizational commitment has a nonsignificant effect on organizational performance, while the application of the principles of good university governance has a significant and positive influence on organizational performance. The results of the mediation tests conducted show that the implementation of the principles of good university governance mediates perfectly the effect of organizational commitment on organizational performance. Further research is recommended to consider external aspects of performance appraisal, as available in the Kanji's concept of Business Excellence Measurement System. Besides, the study can be conducted on some more diverse educational institutions to produce a complete mapping of the conditions of private universities in Indonesia.
