Abstract
Lahirnya jaringan rel kereta api berkaitan dengan kebijakan Tanam Paksa. Setelah raja Belanda menurunkan maklumat, timbul perdebatan mengenai perusahaan seperti apa yang dapat melakukan bisnis kereta api tersebut. Hasil dari perdebatan tersebut adalah sebuah perusahaan swasta bernama Nederlandsch Indische Spoorweg (NIS). Akan tetapi, jalur yang dibangun oleh NIS memiliki banyak kekurangan sehingga akhirnya pemerintahan Hindia Belanda mendirikan perusahaannya sendiri yaitu Staatsspoorwegen (SS). Kedua perusahaan memiliki andil yang besar dalam perkembangan kereta api di Hindia Belanda. Dua entitas perusahaan yang berbeda menggunakan strategi yang berbeda dalam menjalankan bisnisnya. Hal ini tentu menimbulkan morfologi sehingga menarik untuk dikomparasikan. Penelitian ini membahas karakteristik morfologi stasiun kereta api dari dua perusahaan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif melalui skema komparasi. Variabel morfologi stasiun digunakan sebagai poin komparasi yang lalu dideskripsikan dengan aspek fungsi, bentuk, dan makna. Objek penelitian terpilih untuk di komparasikan adalah Stasiun Tawang milik NIS dan Stasiun Cirebon milik SS. Hasil penelitian berupa room street sebagai karakteristik stasiun milik NIS dan bentuk simeteris yang konsisten pada stasiun milik SS
English Abstract
The birth of the railroad network is related to the Cultivation Policy. After the king of the Netherlands issued an edict, there was a debate about what kind of company could do the railroad business. The result of the debate was a private company called Nederlandsch Indische Spoorweg (NIS). However, the route built by the NIS had many shortcomings, so the Dutch East Indies government finally established its own company, namely Staatsspoorwegen (SS). Both companies had a big share in the development of railways in the Dutch East Indies. Two different corporate entities use different strategies in running their business. This certainly raises the morphology so it is interesting to compare. This study discusses the morphological characteristics of the train stations of the two companies. The method used is descriptive qualitative through a comparison scheme. Station morphology variables are used as points of comparison which are then described with aspects of function, form, and meaning. The research objects selected for comparison are Tawang Station belonging to NIS and Cirebon Station belonging to SS. The results of the research are room street as a characteristic of the NIS station and the consistent symmetrical shape of the SS station
