Abstract

English Abstract

The condition of fisheries in Indonesia, especially in capture fisheries, makes Indonesia rich in marine and fish resources. One of the potential capture fisheries, namely small pelagic, in the waters of the Bali Strait. In order for these small pelagic resources to remain sustainable, information is needed regarding the location of small pelagic fishing ground points so that overfishing does not occur. Indonesia fisheries are multi-species fiheries, which are exploited with various fishing gears so that their management is relatively more complex. The type of small pelagic fish consists of various species (multispecies), so a method is needed to be able to determine the fishing ground of small pelagic fish species group that is the target or non-target fish. Capture fisheries management requires information to see how the distribution pattern of a particular species or a certain group of species is, which information on fishing grounds can be used in capture fisheries management, with a catch quota system. To obtain information on the distribution pattern of certain species of fish in groups, a method is needed, namely the clustering method called the hierarchical clustering method with boostrap p-value. Fishermen in the waters of the Bali Strait carry out fishing operations in one day fishing. There are several fishing gears in the waters of Bali Strait that catch small pelagis fish, including purse seine, gill net, hand line, payang and lift net. From the results of diversity analysis, cluster analysis and spatial analysis, it was found that 2 clusters were formed, Cluster 1 consists of 12 smal pelagic species and cluster 2 consists of 12 small pelagic species which are the same, but have differences in the weight (kilograms) of each type of fish species. Cluster 1 consists of 18 fishing ground points and cluster 2 consists of 62 fishing ground points. The 2 clusters have almost the same composition or even distribution for each species of small pelagic fish, especially lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) and layang (Decapterus sp) species that dominate. The dominant fish species, namely lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) and layang (Decapterus sp) have growth rates 1,2 and 0,8. Information on these 2 clusters can be used to determine target or non-target small pelagis fishing ground by looking at their distribution pattern and can be used in the implementation of capture fisheries policies with a catch quota restriction system for small pelagic species. It is necessary to conduct a temporal analysis to determine the fishing ground points in each clusters (18 fishing ground points in cluster 1 and 62 fishing ground points in cluster 2). From the information on the 2 dominant species, layang (Decapterus sp) can be alternative for catching not only focusing on lemuru (Sardinella lemuru), and the presence of layang (Decapterus sp) is almost the same as lemuru.
