Abstract
Masjid merupakan bangunan peribadatan bagi umat Islam. Keberadaan masjid di Indonesia, baik di pulau Sumatera, Kalimantan, dan beberapa pulau lainnya, termasuk di pulau Jawa, sangat mudah dijumpai, mengingat mayoritas masyarakat di Indonesia beragama Islam. Selain sebagai bangunan peribadatan, masjid juga sering berperan sebagai identitas suatu daerah atau kelompok masyarakat tertentu. Menurut Narhadi (2019) seiring dengan berjalannya waktu sejak dahulu hingga saat ini, bangunan masjid banyak mengalami perkembangan dari segi desain yang semakin memperhatikan budaya dari daerah tertentu serta kondisi lingkungan sekitarnya. Hal ini banyak terjadi pada masjid-masjid yang ada di Indonesia, termasuk pada Masjid Cheng Hoo yang memiliki desain yang cukup unik dengan perpaduan budaya Jawa, Arab, dan juga budaya Tionghoa yang cukup kental. Dengan kemunculan identitas yang beragam karena adanya perpaduan beberapa budaya pada bangunan Masjid Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan, maka akan dilakukan penelitian untuk meneliti identitas masjid yang berfokus pada elemen visualnya. Penelitian ini merupakan salah satu langkah untuk melihat, serta mengetahui identitas visual pada Masjid Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan, maka pembahasan pada penelitian ini akan berfokus pada pembahasan elemen visual Masjid Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan, yang akan memunculkan identitas seperti apa dan darimana sajakah yang terdapat pada Masjid Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan ini.
English Abstract
The mosque is a place of worship for Muslims. The existence of mosques in Indonesia, both on the islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan, and several other islands, including on the island of Java, is very easy to find, considering that the majority of people in Indonesia are Muslim. Apart from being a building of worship, mosques also often serve as the identity of a particular area or community group. According to Narhadi (2019), along with the passage of time from the past to the present, the mosque building has undergone many developments in terms of design which increasingly pays attention to the culture of certain areas and the conditions of the surrounding environment. This happens a lot in mosques in Indonesia, including the Cheng Hoo Mosque which has a quite unique design with a mix of Javanese, Arabic, and Chinese culture which is quite thick. With the emergence of diverse identities due to the combination of several cultures in the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan Mosque building, a study will be conducted to examine the identity of the mosque that focuses on its visual elements. This research is one step to see, and find out the visual identity of the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan Mosque, so the discussion in this study will focus on discussing the visual elements of the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan Mosque, which will bring up what kind of identity and where are found in the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Pandaan mosque.
