Abstract

English Abstract

The furniture industry center Tunjungsekar is the location where the furniture industry agglomeration since the 1950s was formed spontaneously. Through the central approach can foster new knowledge flows among industry players and the formation of collective innovation. However, these industrial centers do not have good institutions, marketing of products independently and there is no strong marketing network, so that agglomeration externalities such as purchasing intermediate goods between producers, exchange of technology, increasing industrial credibility have not been created properly and have an effect on productivity. uneven between industries. So, this study aims to see the effect of agglomeration externalities on the productivity of the furniture industry in Tunjungsekar. The data technique used a questionnaire that was distributed to a total population of 30 units of the furniture industry. The analytical method used is descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression. The results of the productivity analysis of the productivity level of the furniture industry are all above 1.0, but this is not really an ideal condition because the factors forming productivity such as labor wages are still far below the UMK of Malang City, and the expenditure for raw materials is not directly proportional to the number of furniture orders, so that profits that can also not be good enough. The form of agglomeration externality that is formed and has a very real effect on productivity, namely the exhaustion of energy is found by new customers (X2), success in finding special skilled jobs (X3), buying and selling semi-finished goods between companies (X4), finding new customers (X6), reference / reference between industries in the cluster (X9), company credibility (X11), while local demand (X7), innovation and product development (X10) have an effect but not significantly on industrial productivity. The R2 value on the formed externalities can provide an explanation of 97.9% of the productivity level of the Tanjungsekar furniture industry, while the 2.1% indicates or by other variables that are not included in the model.
