PERBEDAAN JUMLAH MIKROBA PADA FORMULA ENTERAL BLENDERIZED DAN FORMULA ENTERAL KOMERSIAL: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW NON META ANALYSIS

Aurelia Amandha, Berlian (2021) PERBEDAAN JUMLAH MIKROBA PADA FORMULA ENTERAL BLENDERIZED DAN FORMULA ENTERAL KOMERSIAL: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW NON META ANALYSIS. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

The selection of enteral blenderized and commercial formulas is a consideration, one of which is reviewed from the many presence of contaminant microbes or pathogenic microbes. Enteral formula or liquid food is a food that is usually given to patients with chewing, swallowing, and digesting disorders or patients with critical illness. The presence of pathogenic microbes can result in the risk of nosocomial infection in such immunocompetient patients. This study aims to analyze the difference in the number of microbes in the enteral blenderized formula with commercial enteral formula conducted with literature review studies. The research study used Systematic Review Non Meta-analysis method by applying Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) protocol with search keywords tailored to Medical Subject Heading (MeSH). The results of the study are data from 15 journals obtained through 2 databases namely PubMed and ProQuest and other reference journals. The results of this literature review study are overall the number of microbes in enteral blenderized formulas tend to be higher than commercial enteral formulas. However, the conclusion stated that the high contamination was caused by factors in the temperature, holding time, and handling of the product in the formula preparation procedure rather than caused by the enteral formula type. The choice of the use of both formulas depends on the benefit and affordability so both are equally recommended to complement each other.
