Abstract

Mural dan Politik: Analisis Semiotika Pesan Kritik Sosial Mural #STOPSIKSAHEWAN Karya Komunitas Turu Kene. Tim Pembimbing: Tri Hendra Wahyudi, S.IP., M.IP dan M. Fajar Shodiq Ramadlan S.IP., M.IP. Kota Malang adalah kota yang tiap tahunnya memiliki perkembangan pesat secara sosial, ekonomi dan politik. Perkembangan yang pesat ini menimbulkan banyaknya permasalahan, seperti penyiksaan hewan. Kasus penyiksaan hewan di Kota Malang cukup minim atas perhatian dari masyarakat dan pemerintah, sehingga memunculkan adanya kritik sosial yang dilakukan oleh salah satu komunitas seni mural yaitu Komunitas Turu Kene dengan judul mural #StopSiksaHewan yang berlokasi di Jalan Bogor. Untuk dapat menemukan pesan kritik sosial dalam mural tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce yang membelah setiap ilustrasi, warna dan tipografi pada tanda yang ada. Dalam penelitian ini, ditemukan kekurangan dalam penelitian yaitu tidak dapatnya peneliti melakukan pengumpulan data secara wawancara dikarenakan informan tidak dapat dihubungi sehingga dalam mengumpulkan data penelitian dengan pendekatan observasi, dokumentasi dan literatur dari penelitian yang serupa. Hasil penelitian menemukan pesan dalam setiap ilustrasi mural #StopSiksaHewan menunjukkan gambaran masih lemahnya penerapan kebijakan perlindungan hewan di Kota Malang, hal ini diperkuat dengan temuan Pratik jual beli hewan anjing, penelantaran hewan dan perburuan hewan lindung. Hasil penelitian lainnya menemukan media pesan krtitik social yakni mural yang digunakan sebagai media kritik social yang mengangkat setiap isu masalah politik di sekitar lingkungan komunitas ini ke publik sehingga isu-isu tersebut dapat didengar dan dilihat oleh pemerintah sehingga masyakarat dan komunitas tersebut memiliki peranan sebagai control atas kebijakan yang masih lemah. English Abstract
Malang is a city that has rapid development socially, economically and politically every year. This rapid development raises many problems, such as animal abuse. Cases of animal abuse in Malang City are receiving quite minimal attention from the public and the government, thus giving rise to social criticism by one of the mural art communities, the Turu Kene Community with the title #StopSiksaHewan mural located on Jalan Bogor. To be able to find the message of social criticism in the mural, this study uses Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis which divides each illustration, color and typography on the signs. In this study, a deficiency was found in the research, namely the inability of the researcher to collect data by interview because the informant could not be contacted so that in collecting research data the approach of observation, documentation and literature from similar research was found. The results of the study found that the message in each illustration of the #StopSiksaHewan mural shows a picture of the weak implementation of animal protection policies in Malang City, this is reinforced by the findings of practice of buying and selling dogs, animal neglect and hunting for protected animals. The results of other studies found that the media for social criticism messages, namely murals that were used as social criticism media, raised every issue of political problems around this community environment to the public so that these issues could be heard and seen by the government so that the public and the community had a role as control over weak policy.
