Abstract
orosi merupakan proses perusakan permukaan logam yang disebabkan oleh terjadinya reaksi kimia (reaksi elektrokimia) pada permukaan logam. Pada hakikatnya korosi adalah reaksi dimana logam dioksidasi sebagai akibat dari serangan kimia oleh lingkungan seperti uap air dan oksigen di atmosfer. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh heat treatment dan variasi pendinginan terhadap korosi batas butir pada baja stainless steel 316. Variasi media pendinginan setelah proses perlakuan panas mempengaruhi sifat mekanik suatu logam. Material akan semakin keras disaat dilakukan pendinginan cepat. Semakin keras material menyebabkan jumlah presipitasi karbida semakin sedikit. Semakin banyak presipitasi karbida pada batas butir menyebabkan menurunnya ketahanan korosi suatu material. Ketahanan korosi rendah menyebabkan laju korosi yang tinggi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental. Pengujian ini dilakukan dengan variasi media pendinginan air es, oli, dan tungku. Variasi temperatur dan waktu holding T1:1000°C holding 1 jam, dan T1:1000°C holding 1 jam, T2:450°C holding 2 jam. Stainless steel 316 dengan dimensi 40mm x 10mm x 5mm. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil pengamatan mikrostruktur menunjukan bahwa sampel yang mengalami heat treatment lebih lama berada pada temperatur sensitasinya yaitu pada selang suhu (450ºC - 870ºC), ternyata korosi batas butir teramati sangat jelas. Sedangkan pada sampel yang tidak terlalu lama berada pada temperatur sensitasi korosi batas butir masih teramati tetapi tidak terlalu jelas. Dan nilai kekerasan material yang didapat berbanding terbalik dengan persentase korosi batas butirnya. Hasil dari pengujian laju korosi nilai terendah terdapat pada spesimen A yaitu 0.11269mm/year dan yang tertinggi pada spesimen F yaitu 0.42135mm/year.
English Abstract
on is a process of damaging metal surfaces caused by chemical reactions (electrochemical reactions) on metal surfaces. In essence, corrosion is a reaction in which metals are oxidized as a result of chemical attacks by the environment such as water vapor and oxygen in the atmosphere. This study was conducted to determine the effect of heat treatment and cooling variations on grain boundary corrosion in stainless steel 316. Variation of the cooling media after the heat treatment process affects the mechanical properties of a metal. The material will get harder when cooling down quickly. The harder the material causes the less amount of carbide precipitation. The more carbide precipitation at the grain boundary causes the corrosion resistance of a material to decrease. Low corrosion resistance causes a high corrosion rate. This research was conducted by an experimental method. This test is carried out with a variety of cooling media ice water, oil, and furnace. Variations in temperature and holding time T1: 1000°C holding 1 hour, and T1: 1000°C holding 1 hour, T2: 450°C holding 2 hours. 316 stainless steel with dimensions of 40 mm x 10 mm x 5 mm. The results of this study showed that the results of microstructure observations showed that the samples that underwent longer heat treatment were at their sensational temperature at the temperature interval (450ºC - 870ºC), apparently the grain boundary corrosion was observed very clearly. Whereas in samples not too long in the corrosion sensitivity temperature grain boundaries are still observed but not very clear. And the hardness value of the material obtained is inversely proportional to the percentage of grain corrosion. The results of the lowest corrosion rate test are found in specimen A which is 0,11269 mm/year and the highest in specimen F is 0,42135 mm / year.
