Kristianingsih, Wahyu (2019) Pemodelan dan Optimasi Konsentrasi Zeolit dan Waktu Adsorpsi Terhadap Penurunan Nilai Free Fatty Acid Minyak Goreng Curah Kelapa Sawit dalam Pretreatment Biodiesel Menggunakan Response Surface Methodology. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Bulk cooking oil from palm oil processing is one of the ingredients for making biodiesel that is easy to get and available in large quantities. The pretreatment process can be done by adding 100 mesh of zeolite adsorbent which has been activated to reduce the Free Fatty Acid (FFA) value of oil as the substituted of esterification process. In this study with the Surface Methodology (RSM) Response and the design of Central Composite Design (CCD) in the Design Expert 10.0.8 program resulted in 13 experimental combinations of the two factorial treatments, the addition of zeolite adsorbents and the adsorption time. The purpose of this study is to model and optimize zeolite concentration and adsorption time to the response of decrease FFA value. Zeolite addition and adsorption time with an upper limit of 30% and 120 minutes and a lower limit of 10% and 60 minutes significantly affected the decrease in palm oil FFA value in the biodiesel pretreatment process with a maximum response of 0.30% and the minimum response of -0.612 %. The response generated from the modeling and optimization process decreases the FFA value resulting in a quadratic model with the equation: Y = (−0.5469) + (0.066411X1) + (1.25880 × 10−3X2) − (2.31544 × 10−4X1X2) − (1.45271 × 10−3X12) + (1.55199 × 10−5X22). The recommended process of data validation with the optimum combination of zeolite addition of 10,594% and the adsorption time of 101,571 minutes resulted in a 5.37% deviation between predictive data and actual data.
