Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan sosial teman sebaya terhadap penyesuaian diri pada mahasiswa tahun pertama. Penelitian kuantitatif korelasional ini melibatkan 100 partisipan dari mahasiswa tahun pertama Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Brawijaya. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Skala dukungan sosial teman sebaya disusun berdasarkan dimensi-dimensi dari teori( Sarafino & Smith, 2011).Skala penyesuaian diri menggunakan Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ)yang didasarkan oleh teori (Baker&Siryk, 1989). Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Pearson’s Product Moment. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi positif antara variabel dukungan sosial teman sebaya dengan penyesuaian diri pada mahasiswa tahun pertama. Semakin tinggi dukungan sosial teman sebaya yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa tahun pertama maka semakin tinggi pula penyesuaian dirinya. Hal tersebut didukung dengan nilai p=0.520 dengan taraf signifikasi 0.000 (p < 0.005).
English Abstract
This study aims to find the correlation between peer social support and adjustment in first-year students. This correlational quantitative study involved 100 participants from the first-year students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Brawijaya University. The sampling technique using purposive sampling. The peer social support scale is based on the dimensions of the theory (Sarafino & Smith, 2011). The adjustment scale uses the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ) based on theory (Baker & Siryk, 1989). Analysis of the data of this study uses Pearson's Product Moment technique. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive correlation between the variables of peer social support with adjustment in first-year students. The higher the social support of peers owned by first-year students, the higher the adjustment itself. This is supported by the value of p = 0.520 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.005).
