Abstract
Saliva adalah produk atau sekresi kelenjar campuran yang secara terus-menerus membantu membersihkan gigi dan mukosa mulut. Saliva memiliki derajat keasaman yang dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya adalah bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Adanya bakteri ini dapat menurunkan derajat keasaman saliva karena produk asam yang dihasilkan dari fermentasi sukrosa dan dapat menyebabkan terjadinya karies. Daun alpukat (Persea americana Mill.) mengandung flavonoid, saponin, alkaloid dan tanin yang bersifat sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian air rebusan tradisional daun alpukat terhadap pH saliva yang diinduksi Streptococcus mutans secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan True Experimental Design yaitu Pretest-posttest Control Group Design. Sampel sediaan relawan didapatkan dari relawan setelah bangun tidur dan sedang tidak sakit. Konsentrasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 7%, 10%, 13% dan 16%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari hasil pengujian oneway ANOVA didapatkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nilai pH antar kelompok yang berbeda (p<0,05). Analisa data menggunakan uji regresi menunjukkan pengaruh sebesar 69,2% pada pemberian air rebusan tradisional daun alpukat terhadap pH saliva. Pada hari ketiga, pH saliva pada kelompok perlakuan mengalami kenaikan tetapi perbedaannya tidak signifikan terhadap kontrol positif. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian air rebusan tradisional daun alpukat (Persea americana Mill.) mempengaruhi pH saliva yang diinduksi Streptococcus mutans secara in vitro dengan cara menaikkan pH saliva dimulai dari konsentrasi 13%, namun kenaikannya tidak dapat mencapai pH saliva normal.
English Abstract
Saliva is a product of excretion alloy glands which helps cleaning teeth and mouth mucosa continually. The acidity level of saliva is influenced by some factors, one of them is Streptococcus mutans. This bacteria can decrease the acidity level of saliva because the acid product produced from sucrose fermentation. It also can cause caries. Avocado’s leaves contain flavonoid, saponin, alkaloid and tannin which have function as antibacterial. The aim of this research is to know the effect of avocado’s leaves traditional decoction feeding (Persea americana Mill.) to the level saliva acidity induced by Streptococcus mutans in Vitro. This research used the experiment design (pre-test and post-test) control group design. The samples are obtained from the volunteers who just got up and in healthy condition. The concentrations that used in this research are 7%,10%, 13% and 16%. The research result used One-Way ANOVA data Analysis, showed that there are different values of salivary pH between groups (p<0,05). Data analysing used regression experiment, showed that the effect of avocado’ s leaves traditional decoction which given to the volunteers to salivary pH value is 69,2 %. On the third day, the salivary pH in the treatment group increased but was not significant to positive control group. The conclusion of this research is the avocado’s leaves traditional decoction feeding influences pH of saliva induced by Streptococcus mutans in Vitro by increasing pH of saliva started from concentration 13%, but cant reach normal salivary pH.
