Abstract
Perubahan warna dari makanan atau minuman yang mempunyai kromogen seperti kopi dapat menimbulkan perubahan warna pada gigi yaitu stain ekstrinsik. Munculnya stain ini dapat menyebabkan bakteri mudah menempel pada gigi dan dapat mengganggu fungsi estetik gigi. Pasta Virgin Coconut Oil (Minyak Kelapa Murni) memiliki kandungan asam laurat yang berpotensi untuk menghilangkan stain ekstrinsik gigi melalui mekanisme foaming. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pasta Virgin Coconut Oil (Minyak Kelapa Murni) terhadap penghilangan stain ekstrinsik gigi melalui kajian in vitro. Desain penelitian true experimental dengan pre test-post test with control group design. Dua puluh lima sampel gigi premolar pasca ekstraksi yang terbagi dalam 5 kelompok direndam dalam larutan kopi untuk membentuk stain ekstrinsik selama 14 hari. Kelompok kontrol dengan saliva buatan dan pasta Placebo, dan kelompok perlakuan dengan pasta Virgin Coconut Oil konsentrasi 50%, 75%, dan 100% selama 3 hari. Pengambilan foto menggunakan kamera hp Samsung Galaxy S10 pengaturan manual, ISO 50, aperture F2.4, focal length 4.32mm, shutter speed 8, jarak objek 20cm di dalam mini studio dilakukan setelah terbentuk stain ekstrinsik dan setelah perlakuan. Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 digunakan untuk mengetahui selisih intensitas warna ) dalam sistem CIELAB. Hasil analisis oneway ANOVA menunjukkan perbedaan nilai intensitas warna ) yang signifikan (p<0,05) antar kelompok. Hasil analisis Post- Hoc menunjukkan perbedaan nilai intensitas warna ) yang signifikan (p<0,05) antara masing-masing kelompok dengan nilai terbesar pada kelompok konsentrasi 100%. Hasil uji Korelasi Pearson menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi positif dan signifikan antara konsentrasi pasta Virgin Coconut Oil dengan selisih intensitas warna). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pasta Virgin Coconut Oil efektif terhadap penghilangan stain ekstrinsik gigi (kajian in vitro).
English Abstract
Discoloration from food and drinks such as coffee that contains chromogen can formed extrinsic stain. Extrinsic stain can cause bacteria to stick easily on tooth surface and also an aesthetic problems. Virgin Coconut Oil Paste contains lauric acid which potential for extrinsic stain removal through its foaming mechanism. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of virgin coconut oil paste on extrinsic stain removal (in vitro study). The study design is true experimental, pre-post test with control goup design. Twenty five post extraction premolar teeth divided into 5 groups immersed in coffee solution to formed extrinsic stain within 14 days. Control group with artificial saliva, and placebo paste meanwhile the treatment with Virgin Coconut Oil Paste concentration of 50%, 75%, and 100% for 3 days. The teeth surface image was taken after the coffee immersion, and after the treatment using Samsung Galaxy S10 camera adjusted in manual mode, ISO 50, aperture F2.4, focal length 4.32 mm, shutter speed 8, 20 cm object distance inside a mini studio. Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 used to evaluate the difference color intencity (ΔE) in CieLAB system after the coffee immersion and after the treatment. One way ANOVA analysis showed there’s a significant effect (p<0,05) within groups. Post Hoc analysis showed there’s a significant effect (p<0,05) on difference color intencity (ΔE) between eah groups with the highest (ΔE) on Virgin Coconut Oil Paste concetration of 100%. Pearson correlation showed, there’s a significant correlation between the concentration of Virgin Coconut Oil Paste and the difference color intencity (ΔE) with positive correlation. The conclusion of this study is Virgin Coconut Oil Paste is effective on extrinsic stain removal (in vitro study).
