Abstract

Gigi desidui lebih rentan terhadap demineralisasi karena enamel gigi desidui lebih tipis dibandingkan dengan gigi permanen sehingga kandungan hidroksiapatitnya juga lebih rendah. Hidroksiapatit [Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2] tersusun dari ikatan kalsium fosfor. Kulit semangka (Citrullus lanatus) memiliki kandungan kalsium dan fosfor. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh perendaman ekstrak kulit semangka (Citrullus lanatus) terhadap kadar kalsium dan fosfor gigi desidui. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan true experimental design. Sampel gigi yang (16 gigi) dibagi 2 kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol (8 gigi) dan kelompok perlakuan (8 gigi). Kelompok kontrol direndam dalam saliva buatan selama 14 hari. Kelompok perlakuan dilakukan perendaman dengan ekstrak kulit semangka selama 2 menit yang dilakukan 2 kali sehari. Setelah perendaman dengan ekstrak, gigi disimpan kembali dalam saliva buatan dan proses ini dilakukan selama 14 hari. Kemudian, dilakukan pengukuran kadar kalsium dan fosfor dengan menggunakan XRF (XRay Fluorosence). Ekstrak kulit semangka (Citrullus lanatus) dibuat dengan metode maserasi. Uji T berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang tidak signifikan (p<0,05) pada konsentrasi kadar kalsium dan fosfor gigi kelompok perlakuan yang direndam dalam ekstrak kulit semangka dan juga pada kelompok kontrol yang direndam pada saliva buatan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perendaman dengan ekstrak kulit semangka (Citrullus lanatus) memiliki pengaruh yang lemah terhadap kadar kalsium dan fosfor gigi desidui yang direndam selama 14 hari.

English Abstract

Deciduous teeth are more susceptible to demineralization because deciduous tooth enamel is thinner than permanent teeth so the hydroxyapatite content is also lower. Hydroxyapatite [Ca10(PO4)6 (OH)2] is composed of calcium phosphorus bonds. Watermelon skin (Citrullus lanatus) contains calcium and phosphorus. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of soaking watermelon rind extract (Citrullus lanatus) on calcium and phosphorus levels of deciduoud teeth. This research method uses true experimental design. Tooth samples (16 teeth) were divided into 2 groups, namely the control group (8 teeth) and the treatment group (8 teeth). The control group was immersed in artificial saliva for 14 days. The treatment group was immersed with watermelon rind extract for 2 minutes which was done 2 times a day. After soaking with the extract, the teeth were stored again in artificial saliva and this process was carried out for 14 days. Then, the concentration of calcium and phosphorus levels is measured using XRF (X-Ray Fluorosence). Watermelon rind extract (Citrullus lanatus) is made by maceration method. The paired T test showed that there was an insignificant difference (p <0.05) in the concentration of calcium and phosphorus in the treatment group immersed in watermelon skin extracts and also in the control group immersed in artificial saliva. It can be concluded that soaking with watermelon rind extract (Citrullus lanatus) has a weak influence on calcium and phosphorus levels of deciduous teeth which have been soaked for 14 days.
