Abstract
Obesitas dapat didefinisikan sebagai kelebihan berat badan akibat akumulasi lemak berlebih yang beresiko terhadap kesehatan dan diduga dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan jaringan periodontal melalui produksi sitokin proinflamasi yang dapat meningkatkan inflamasi sistemik sehingga host rentan terhadap infeksi periodontal. Gangguan kesehatan jaringan periodontal merupakan masalah yang terjadi pada jaringan pendukung gigi dan ditandai dengan inflamasi pada gingiva, poket periodontal dan resesi dengan faktor utama adalah bakteri plak. Kondisi tersebut dapat diketahui melalui suatu indeks dari world health organization (WHO) yaitu community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN) yang ditandai dengan adanya peningkatan skor pada hasil pemeriksaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh pada pasien obesitas dengan kesehatan jaringan periodontal yang diukur menggunakan CPITN. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan crossectional study. Sampel diambil sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil uji chi square dengan p= 0,002 (p<0,05) menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan keparahan CPITN antara kategori obesitas dan non obesitas. Hasil uji korelasi spearman rank menunjukkan terdapat korelasi positif dengan r=0,344, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara indeks massa tubuh dan kesehatan jaringan periodontal yang diukur dengan community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN).
English Abstract
Obesity can be defined as excess weight due to the accumulation of excess fat accumulations that were at risk of health and were suspected to cause periodontal health disorder through proinflammatory cytokines production which could increase systemic inflammation and thereby increasing the host’s susceptibility to periodontal infection. Periodontal tissue health disorder is a problem that occurs in the supporting tissues of the teeth and were characterized by inflammation of gingiva, periodontal pocket and the recession with the main factor being bacterial plaque. This condition can be identified through an index from world health organization (WHO), namely the community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN), which is marked by an increase in the score on the examination results. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between body mass index in obesity patients and periodontal tissue health as measured using CPITN. The research method used was analytic observational research with the crossectional study approach. Samples were taken according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria of study. Based on the results of the chi square test with p = 0.002 (p < 0.05) showed there were the difference in the severity of CPITN between the categories of obesity and non obesity. The results of the correlation spearman rank test showed there were significant correlation with r = 0.344 between body mass index and periodontal tissue health as measured by community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN).
