Studi Siklus Reproduksi Lutung Jawa (Trachypithecus auratus) Betina di Javan Langur Center Berdasarkan Kadar Estrogen dan Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

Antarayami, Made Ayu Putri (2019) Studi Siklus Reproduksi Lutung Jawa (Trachypithecus auratus) Betina di Javan Langur Center Berdasarkan Kadar Estrogen dan Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Javan langur (Trachypithecus auratus) is one of Indonesia's endemic animals that is now vulnerable based on the Red List of Threatened Species by International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) and has been designated as protected animals since 1999 based on Surat Keputusan Menteri Kehutanan dan Perkebunan No. 733/Kpts-II/1999. Preservation efforts to prevent the extinction of Javan langurs are done by optimizing their breeding. Javan langur in a conservation has a low reproductive success rate because of the less precise approximate time of ovulation in the reproductive cycle of female Javan langurs. Information about the reproductive cycle of Javan langurs are obtained through measurements of estrogen and LH levels during the reproductive cycle in a non-invasive manner using the ELISA method. The sample used was faeces from 2 Javan langurs which are 4 years old (Ifa) and 7 years old (Asti) from Javan Langur Center. Faeces samples were collected every day for 40 days then extracted using PBS. Estrogen and LH levels were measured from the extract using a commercial ELISA kit. The results showed that the reproductive cycle of female Javan langurs estimated around 24 days which consists of a follicular phase lasting around 10 days, an ovulation phase of approximately 2 days and a luteal phase of around 12 days.
