Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari pengaruh pH dan counter-anion pada fasa umpan terhadap transpor Cr (VI) melalui Polimer Inclusion Membrane (PIM). Pengaruh pH fasa umpan yang dipelajari yaitu pH 2; 4; 6; dan 8 dan pengaruh counter-anion yang dipelajari adalah anion Cl-, SO42-, dan NO3-. PIM terbuat dari 60% (w/w) polivinyl chloride (PVC), 20% (w/w) aliquat 336-Cl, dan 20% (w/w) dioctylphthalate (DOP) dalam tetrahydrofuran (THF). Uji transpor Cr (VI) dilakukan dengan menggunakan sel difusi yang terdiri dari dua bagian yaitu fasa umpan dan fasa penerima yang dipisahkan oleh PIM, dengan Fasa umpan larutan K2CrO4 50 mg/L dan fasa penerima adalah NaOH 0,05 M. Kedua fasa diaduk selama 180 menit dengan kecepatan 150 rpm. Setiap 30 menit, diambil 1 mL larutan fasa umpan dan fasa penerima. Konsentrasi Cr (VI) dikedua fasa tersebut ditentukan secara spektrofotometri pada panjang gelombang 541 nm melalui pembentukan senyawa kompleks Cr(III)-diphenylcarbazone. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa transpor Cr (VI) optimum pada fasa umpan pH 4 dengan efisiensi transpor sebesar 46,60%. Efisiensi transpor terbesar pada fasa umpan yang mengandung Cl- 48,84% dengan permeabilitas 3,05 x 10-4 mL/min.cm2 dan fluks awal 1,52 x 10-2 mL/min.cm2.
English Abstract
The purpose of this research was to studied effect of pH and counter-anion in source phase on Cr (VI) transport using polymer inclusion membrane (PIM). The studied pH were pH 2; 4; 6; and 8 and the anions studied were Cl-, SO42-, NO3-. The composition of PIM was 60% (w/w) polyvinyl chloride (PVC), 20% (w/w) aliquat 336-Cl, and 20% (w/w) dioctylphthalate (DOP) dissolved in tetrayidrofuran (THF). Transport of Cr (VI) was conducted by using a diffusion cell comprised of two compartments, source phase and stripping phase, which was separated by PIM sheet, the source phase was K2CrO4 solution 50 mg/L and stripping phase was NaOH 0.05 M. Both chambers were stirred for 180 minutes at 150 rpm. Every 30 minutes, about 1 mL of solution was pipetted from source and stripping phase. Cr (VI) concentration then was analyzed using spectrofotometric method at 541 nm based on the formation of Cr(VI)-diphenylcarbazide complex compound. The results showed the transport Cr (VI) optimally at source phase pH 4 with transport efficiency of 46.60%. The transport efficiency optimum was source phase present Cl- 48.84%, the membrane permeability was 3.05 × 10-4 mL/min.cm2, and the initial flux was 1.52 x 10-2 mg/min.cm2.
