Abstract
Bangunan panti asuhan memiliki fungsi yang kompleks, didalamnya mewadahi berbagai aktivitas yang melingkupi kegiatan individu maupun berkelompok. Sebagai bangunan sosial, panti asuhan mengharuskan anak tinggal bersama dengan orang banyak karena keterbatasan luas bangunan dan ruang. Salah satunya pada ruang bersama sebagai salah satu media interaksi sosial antar penghuni. Pengguna ruang publik sering kali membatasi jarak antara dirinya dengan orang lain. Sehingga dalam menggunakan ruang bersama penghuni cenderung menghindari interaksi dengan penghuni lain sebagai upaya untuk mencapai privasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi penghuni saat melakukan aktivitas dan upaya penghuni untuk mencapai privasi pada ruang bersama di Panti Asuhan Putra Harapan Asrori Malang. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisis interaksi penghuni pada ruang bersama di panti asuhan dengan mengobservasi perilaku penghuni dilihat dari gestur penghuni saat merespon interaksi dengan yang lain. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik place centered mapping. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa untuk mencapai privasi yang diinginkan, penghuni menghindari interaksi yang tidak diinginkan dengan penghuni lain dengan menggunakan elemen fisik seperti pintu, jendela dan perabot. Selain itu juga penghuni menggunakan posisi tubuh untuk mencegah kontak pandangan.
English Abstract
As a social building, the orphanage requires children to live together with many people due to limited area of the building and space. One of which is the shared space, as a media of social interaction between orphanage dwellers. Users of public spaces often limit their distance between themselves and others. So that in using shared space dwellers tend to avoid interaction with other dwellers to achieve privacy. The purpose of this study is to determine the interaction of dwellers when they are doing activities and their effort to achieve privacy in a shared space at Putra Harapan Asrori Orphanage Malang. In this study, analysis of dwellers interactions in a shared space at the orphanage was done by observing the behaviour of dwellers, viewed from their gesture when responding to interactions with others. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with place centered mapping techniques. The result of this research shows that to achieve the desired privacy, orphanage dwellers avoid unwanted interactions with other dwellers by using physical elements such as doors, windows and furniture. Dwellers also use body position to prevent eye contact.
