Abstract

Indonesia memiliki potensi sumber energi terbarukan dalam jumlah besar salah satunya biomassa dimana menjadi penyumbang utama energi terbarukan sekitar 10% dari total energi di dunia. Salah satu alternatif untuk memanfatkan sumber biomassa mersebut menjadi biogas. Salah satu sumber biomassa yang cukup melimpah yaitu eceng gondok. Pada penelitian ini,berfokus pada pengaruh rasio eceng gondok dan serbuk gergaji serta proses pra-perlakuan hidrotermal terhadap volume maupun komposisi dari biogas . Pada penelitian ini, menggunakan substrat eceng gondok, serbuk gergaji, dan rumen sapi pada kondisi ambien selama 21 hari. Rasio berat divariasikan berdasarkan nilai rasio C/N eceng gondok:serbuk gergaji yang dijadikan variabel bebas yaitu 20, 25 dan 30. Selanjutnya dari tiap rasio tersebut diambil nilai volume dan komposisi optimum yang selanjutnya dilakukan proses pra-perlakuan hidrotermal. Volume biogas diukur dengan metode water displacement dan komposisi biogas dikukur menggunakan methane detector. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rasio C/N optimum baik pada volume maupun komposisi yaitu pada rasio C/N 25. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rasio C/N 25 ketika tidak dilakukan proses hidrotermal akan menghasilkan volume maupun komposisi biogas kumulatif lebih rendah dibandingkan apabila dilakukan proses hidrotermal. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa komposisi metana tidak signifikan dibandingkan karbon dioksida yang dihasilkan yang dimungkinkan karena biokonversi yang tidak sempurna. Yield tertinggi diperoleh dari rasio C/N 25 yang dilakukan proses hidrotermal yaitu sebesar 4,58 ml/gr TS. Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses hidrotermal meningkatkan hasil volume maupun biogas meskipun tidak cukup signifikan.

English Abstract

Indonesia has the potential of a large number of renewable energy sources, one of which is biomass, which is the main contributor to renewable energy, about 10% of the total energy in the world. One alternative to make use of the biomass source is biogas. One of the abundant sources of biomass is water hyacinth. This research focuses on the effect of the ratio of water hyacinth and sawdust as well as the hydrothermal pretreatment process on the volume and composition of biogas. In this study, using water hyacinth substrate, sawdust, and cattle rumen under ambient conditions for 21 days. The weight ratio is varied based on the value of the C / N ratio of water hyacinth: sawdust which is made into independent variables, namely 20, 25 and 30. Furthermore, from each of these ratios the optimum volume and composition are taken and the hydrothermal pretreatment process is then carried out. Biogas volume is measured by the water displacement method and biogas composition is measured using a methane detector. The results showed that the optimum C / N ratio both in volume and composition was at C / N ratio 25. This study showed that the C / N ratio of 25 when no hydrothermal process was carried out would result in a lower cumulative volume and biogas composition compared to when the hydrothermal process was carried out. . This research also shows that the composition of methane is insignificant compared to the carbon dioxide produced which is possible due to imperfect bioconversion. The highest yield was obtained from the C / N 25 ratio carried out by the hydrothermal process which was 4,58 ml / gr TS. From this study, it can be concluded that the hydrothermal process increases both volume and biogas yields, although not significantly enough.
