English Abstract
Small and medium enterprises or abbreviated as SMEs are a term that refers to a type of small business that has a net worth of 200,000,000 rupiah. This wealth does not include the land and buildings of the business premises and stands alone. Based on the Republic of Indonesia's presidential decree No. 99 of 1998 the notion of small businesses is small-scale economic activities of the people with business sectors which in majority are small-scale business activities and need to be protected to prevent unfair competition. The author takes the object of SMEs and MSMEs as the theme of this research because seeing the exposure of previous data from various sources has a large economic role. The economic role, among others, the condition of the Indonesian economy during the monetary crisis of 1998 proved to be one of the pillars of economic defense that was able to save and even lift the economic conditions of the Indonesian people at that time. Based on this, MSMEs should get protection to see the important role of MSMEs in poverty alleviation and its function in providing employment. The problem of dissatisfaction among MSMEs in applying a 1% tax taken from total turnover is part of the study of problems in scientific writing.
