Abstract
Film dan drama adalah cabang dari sastra yang bisa digunakan orangorang untuk menjadi media pembelajaran banyak hal seperti budaya, manusia dalam lingkungannya, kehidupannya dan pengetahuan lainnya. Karakter dalam film menggambarkan bagaimana kondisi sebenarnya manusia dalam kehidupan nyata. Mereka menghadapi beberapa konflik, dan saat konflik tersebut yang menyebabkan kecemasan muncul begitu saja. Maka dari itu, mekanisme pertahanan dibutuhkan karakter untuk menganggulangi kecemasan tersebut. Di dalam film dokumentasi Hitting the Apex, Valentino Rossi adalah karakter yang dipilih dari 6 karakter utama mengalami kecemasan dalam menjalankan karirnya sebagai rider MotoGP. Tujuan studi ini adalah untuk menemukan kecemasan dan mekanisme pertahanannya seperti yang terdapat dalam film tersebut. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan teori psikoanalisis oleh Sigmund Freud untuk menganalisa kepribadian sang karakter. Dan juga, beberapa teori tentang kecemasan dan mekanisme pertahanan juga digunakan pada studi ini. Sebagai tambahan, studi tentang film juga digunakan untuk menganalisa data dengan teknik mise-en-scene dan dialog. Pada studi ini, penulis menemukan bahwa karakter Valentino Rossi menunjukkan beberapa jenis gejala kecemasan dan mekanisme pertahanan yang dialaminya. Ia mengalami dua jenis kecemasan, yaitu: kecemasan realistis dan kecemasan neurotik. Kedua kecemasan tersebut,membawa karakter pada tahap mekanisme pertahanannya. Tergambar ada tifa mekanisme pertahanan, yaitu: rasionalisasi, pembentukan reaksi, projeksi. Itulah beberapa cara mekanisme pertahanan yang membantu karakter Valentino Rossi dalam mengatasi kecemasan yang selalu dialaminya.
English Abstract
The characters in the film describe how the real condition of humans in real life. They faced a number of conflicts, and during the conflict that caused anxiety to arise. Therefore, the defense mechanism is needed by the character to overcome these anxieties. In the documentary film Hitting the Apex, Valentino Rossi is a character chosen from the six main characters experiencing anxiety in running his career as a MotoGP rider. The purpose of this study is to find anxiety and defense mechanisms such as those found in the film. This study uses a qualitative approach and psychoanalytic theory by Sigmund Freud to analyze the character's personality. Also, several theories about anxiety and defense mechanisms were also used in this study. In addition, studies of films were also used to analyze data using mise-en-scene and dialog techniques. In this study, the authors found that Valentino Rossi's character showed several types of anxiety and the defense mechanisms they experienced. He experienced two types of anxiety, namely: realistic anxiety and neurotic anxiety. Both of these anxieties carry the character at the stage of the defense mechanism. Pictured are the defense mechanisms, namely: rationalization, reaction formation, and projection. Those are some of the ways the defense mechanism helps Valentino Rossi's character in overcome the anxiety all of time on his life.
