Abstract

Pepaya merupakan tanaman buah tropika yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia karena hampir seluruh bagian tanamannya dapat dimanfaatkan. Produksi tanaman pepaya di Indonesia mengalami penurunan sebanyak 8,29% dari tahun 2013 ke tahun 2014. penurunan produksi pada tanaman pepaya dapat disebabkan karena kondisi curah hujan yang tidak merata sepanjang tahun, adanya hama dan penyakit serta media tanam yang kurang tepat dalam perbenihan pepaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan perakaran tanaman pepaya merah delima selama diperbenihan dan budidaya di lahan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2017 - Desember 2018. Penelitian lapang bertempat di lahan penelitian BPTP Jawa Timur. Penelitian laboratorium bertempat di Laboratorium Kimia Tanah, Jurusan Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya. Perbenihan pepaya disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga kali ulangan. Perlakuan pada perbenihan pepaya yaitu media tanam dengan 15 polibag pada setiap media dalam satu kali ulangan. Penanaman pepaya di lahan disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga kali ulangan. Perlakuan menggunakan kombinasi penambahan media tanam diantaranya A = media tanam 100% tanah, B = media tanam 50% tanah + 50% sekam padi, C = media tanam 33,3% tanah + 33,3% sekam padi + 33,3% pupuk kandang, D = media tanam 50% tanah + 50% sekam padi bakar, E = media tanam 33,3% tanah + 33,3% pupuk kandang + 33,3% sekam bakar padi, F = media tanam 50% tanah + 50% pupuk kandang. Analisis data menggunakan Genstat edition 18th dari hasil pengamatan dianalisis menggunakan Uji F dilanjutkan dengan uji perbandingan nyata Duncan taraf 5%. Analisis kimia yang diamati meliputi pH tanah, N, P, K dan C-organik. Parameter yang diamati pada komponen pertumbuhan meliputi tinggi tanaman, rata-rata jumlah daun, diameter batang dan biomasa tanaman. Komponen perakaran tanaman meliputi total panjang akar (LRV) dan kerapatan panjang akar (DRV). Perlakuan perbedaan media tanam memberikan hasil yang berbeda nyata terhadap kandungan unsur hara di dalam tanah. Media tanam dengan perlakuan E memiliki kandungan c-organik, N, P dan K yang lebih tinggi dari perlakuan media tanam yang lain. Perlakuan media tanam berbeda nyata terhadap tinggi, rata-rata jumlah daun, diameter tanaman pepaya varietas merah delima di polibag. Perlakuan media tanam berbeda nyata terhadap tinggi dan diameter tanaman pepaya varietas merah delima di lahan. Namun, tidak berbeda nyata terhadap parameter rata-rata jumlah daun tanaman pepaya. Media tanam dengan perlakuan E menunjukkan pertumbuhan tinggi dan diameter tanaman yang lebih optimal dari media tanam lain. Perlakuan media tanam berbeda nyata terhadap panjang, bobot akar, biomasa tanaman, jumlah buah dan bobot buah. Media tanam dengan perlakuan E menunjukkan hasil yang paling tinggi.

English Abstract

Papaya is a tropical fruit plant that is widely cultivated in Indonesia because almost all parts of the plant can be utilized. Production of papaya plants in Indonesia has decreased by 8.29% from 2013 to 2014. The decline in production in papaya plants can be caused due to uneven rainfall conditions throughout the year, the presence of pests and poets and less appropriate planting media in papaya nurseries. This study aims to examine the effect of growing media on the growth and development of pomegranate pomegranate roots during fertilization and cultivation on land. The research was conducted in November 2017 - December 2018. The field research was conducted in the research area of East Java . Laboratory research at the Soil Chemistry Laboratory, Soil Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya. Papaya nursery was prepared using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The treatment in papaya nursery is planting media with 15 polybags on each media in one replication. Papaya planting in the field was prepared using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The treatment uses a combination of additional planting media including A = 100% soil, B = 50% soil + 50% rice husk, C = 33.3% soil + 33.3% rice husk + 33.3% manure, D = 50% soil + 50% grilled rice husk, E = 33.3% soil + 33.3% manure + 33.3% grilled rice husk , F = 50% soil + 50 % manure. Data analysis using 18th Genstat edition from the results of the observations were analyzed using the F Test followed by the Duncan real comparison test level of 5%. Chemical analysis observed included soil pH, N, P, K and organic carbon. Parameters observed in growth components included plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter and plant biomass. Plant root components include Length Root Volume (LRV) and Density Root Volume (DRV). The different treatment of planting media gives significantly different results on nutrient content in the soil. The planting media with treatment E had higher c-organic, N, P and K contents than the other treatment media. The treatment media were significantly different in the height, average number of leaves, and diameter of the pomegranate variety in the polybag. The treatment media were significantly different in the height and diameter of the pomegranate variety in the field. However, it was not significantly different from the average parameters of the leaves of papaya plants. Growing media with E treatment showed growth in height and diameter of the plant which was more optimal than other planting media. The treatment media were significantly different in length, root weight, plant biomass, amount of fruit and fruit weight. Growing media with treatment E showed the highest results.
