Abstract

Logam merupakan material yang sangat digunakan pada dunia perindustrian. Material tersebut sangat rentan pada korosi. Untuk meningkatkan resistansi terhadap korosi diperlukan perlakuan salah satunya adalah pemberian inhibitor pada media korosif. Metode ini adalah mengurangi laju korosi pada media dengan cara memberikan lapisan pasif pada permukaan spesimen. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kosentrasi inhibitor ekstrak kulit jeruk baby java dan waktu perendaman terhadap laju korosi plat besi ASTM A36 dengan media NaCl 3,5%.Metode weightloss digunakan untuk menganalisis efektivitas ekstrak kulit jeruk baby java sebagai inhibitor korosi besi ASTM A36 dalam media NaCl 3,5%. Pengukuran weightloss diperoleh dengan kosentrasi inhibitor yang berbeda; 0 ppm, 1000 ppm, 2000 ppm, 3000 ppm dan 4000ppm. Dari pengukuran berat, efisiensi inhibitor dihitung. Pengukuran laju korosi dengan variasi kosentrasi ekstrak kulit jeruk (0, 1000, 2000, 3000, dan 4000 ppm) dan variasi waktu perendaman (7,14, dan 21 hari) dengan metode weightloss menunjukkan bahwa spesimen mengalami penurunan berat semakin meningkat seiring bertambahnya waktu perendaman. Ketika inhibitor ditambahkan ke dalam media NaCl 3,5% menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kulit jeruk mampu menurunkan laju korosi. Nilai laju korosi terendah dan efisiensi tertinggi pada penambahan kosentrasi inhibitor 2000 ppm sebesar 1.8874 mm/year dan 75%. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan pengujian foto mikro dan foto makro dengan permukaan tanpa pemberian inhibitor mengalami perubahan warna merah kecoklatan dibandingkan permukaan spesimen dengan pemberian inhibitor. Dari penelitian tersebut, ekstrak kulit jeruk baby java mampu menghambat korosi pada besi ASTM A36. Pada pemberian inhibitor mampu menurunkan laju korosi, hal ini disebabkan inhibitor ini mampu membuat lapisan tipis yang melindungi permukaan spesimen dari media korosif.

English Abstract

Metal is a material that is very used in the industrial world. This material is very susceptible to corrosion. Treatment is needed to increase corrosion resistance, one of which is the provision of inhibitors on corrosive media. This method is to reduce the corrosion rate on the media by providing a passive layer on the surface of the specimen. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of inhibitor concentration of baby java orange peel extract and immersion time on the corrosion rate of iron plate ASTM A36 with 3.5% NaCl media. The weightloss method was used to analyze the effectiveness of baby java orange bark extract as an iron corrosion inhibitor ASTM A36 in 3.5% NaCl media. Measurement of weightloss is obtained by different concentration inhibitors; 0 ppm, 1000 ppm, 2000 ppm, 3000 ppm and 4000ppm. From weight measurements, the inhibitor efficiency is calculated. Corrosion rate measurement with concentration variations of orange peel extract (0, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 ppm) and variations in immersion time (7.14 and 21 days) with the weightloss method showed that specimens experienced a decrease in weight increasing with increasing immersion time . When the inhibitor added to the 3.5% NaCl medium showed that orange peel extract was able to reduce the corrosion rate. The lowest corrosion rate and the highest efficiency at the addition of 2000 ppm inhibitor concentration is 1.8874 mm / year and 75%. This is evidenced by the testing of micro-photographs and macro photographs with surfaces without the use of inhibitors undergoing brownish red discoloration compared to the surface of the specimen by giving inhibitors. From the study, baby java orange peel extract was able to inhibit corrosion of ASTM A36 iron. In the provision of inhibitors can reduce the rate of corrosion, this is due to the inhibitor is able to make a thin layer that protects the surface of specimens from corrosive media.
