Abstract

Next Generation Passive Optical Network 2 atau NG-PON2 adalah teknologi terbaru yang dikenalkan oleh IEEE dan ITU-T yang menyediakan bandwidth sampai 40 Gbps dengan skema Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) pada saat downstream dan skema Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) pada saat upstream. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisis terhadap performa sistem dari eksternal modulator Mach-Zehnder dengan variasi bit rate 40 Gbps downstream & upstream, 10 Gbps downstream & upstream, dan 40 Gbps downstream & 10 Gbps upstream dan variasi format modulasi NRZ (Non Return to Zero), RZ (Return to Zero) dan Manchester. Analisis performa modulator optik berupa nilai BER, Q-Factor, SNR, dan LPB dengan dilakukan simulasi menggunakan perangkat lunak Optisystem 7.0. Setelah melakukan simulasi didapatkan bahwa hasil simulasi performansi sistem NG-PON2 terbaik yaitu menggunakan format modulasi NRZ pada arah downstream sedangkan pada arah upstream didapatkan hasil simulasi terbaik pada format modulasi RZ dan Manchester. Sedangkan bit rate terbaik pada sistem NG-PON2 yaitu 10 Gbps downstram dan upstream.

English Abstract

Next Generation Passive Optical Network 2 or NG-PON2 is the latest technology introduced by IEEE and ITU-T that provides bandwidth up to 40 Gbps with the Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) scheme during downstream and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) schemes at upstream. In this study an analysis of system performance from external Mach-Zehnder modulator with 40 Gbps downstream & upstream, 10 Gbps downstream & upstream, and 40 Gbps downstream & 10 Gbps upstream bit rate variation and variation of NRZ (Non Return to Zero), RZ (Return to Zero) and Manchester modulation format. Analysis of optical modulator performance in the form of BER, Q-Factor, SNR, and LPB by simulation using Optisystem 7.0 software. After doing the simulation, it was found that the best performance simulation results of the NG-PON2 system were using the NRZ modulation format in the downstream direction while in the upstream direction the best simulation results were obtained in the RZ and Manchester modulation formats. While the best bit rates on NG-PON2 systems are 10 Gbps downstrams and upstream.
