Abstract

Ide bunuh diri merupakan pemikiran seseorang untuk mengakhiri hidupnya sendiri. Ide bunuh diri disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor risiko dan faktor pelindung. Dukungan sosial memiliki peran mengurangi faktor risiko ide bunuh diri, tetapi penelitian terkait dengan subjek mahasiswa masih jarang diteliti. Penelitian ini hadir dengan tujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara persepsi dukungan sosial dengan ide bunuh diri pada mahasiswa. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 141 mahasiswa di Kota Malang yang pernah memiliki ide bunuh diri. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah non probability sampling dengan metode purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Multidimensional Scale Perceived Social Support milik Zimet dan Suicide Ideation Scale milik Beck yang keduanya telah diadaptasi ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Data penelitian ini diolah menggunakan Spearman rho. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara persepsi dukungan sosial dengan ide bunuh diri. Kedua variabel membentuk hubungan negatif, sehingga semakin tinggi persepsi dukungan sosial maka semakin rendah ide bunuh diri pada mahasiswa.

English Abstract

Suicide ideation is someone’s thoughts on ending their own lives. Suicide is caused by various risk factors and protective factors. Social support has role to reduce suicide ideation risk factors. Social support has the role of reducing the risk factors for suicide ideas, but research related to college student subjects is still rarely studied.This study aims to examine the relationship between perceived social support and suicide ideation in college students. Respondents in this study was 141 college students in Malang City who had suicide ideas. The sampling technique used is non probability sampling with a purposive sampling method. The measuring instrument used is Multidimensional Perceived Social Support belonging to Zimet and Suicide Ideation Scale of Beck. both of which have been adapted into Indonesian. The research data was processed using Spearman rho. This study found there was a significant relationship between perceived social support and suicide ideation. Both variables had a negative association, that means the high level of perceptions of social support can indicate low suicide ideation in students.
