Lolang, Leon Nauval (2019) Hidden Curriculum Dalam Pendidikan Bebas di SMA Kolese De Britto. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

This research tries to describe the hidden curriculum based off of freedom in education as a base value in De Britto College. The researcher attempts to find and explain about how De Britto College implements the value and tries to make a freedom based culture. In this situation, freedom is an uncontrolled discrepancy. Every student has freedom. Before they have freedom, they should first understand what freedom is. They must distinguish between “free from” and “free to”. There is a little paradox in these circumstances. School as an educational institution must have some restrictions upon their students. But in the meantime, this school instead gave their students freedom. It is not easy to cultivate the students to be a well-structured representation of the school, as well as a role model in the eye of the public. But the school can reach other achievements. De Britto‟s students can develop their own personality with this form of education. They're also able to recognize their own limitations. In this research, the researcher attempts to find the hidden curriculum in freedom education. The researcher tries to look over the process that is unseen by the students and remains excluded from the lessons taught in class. Therefore, the researcher uses Byron G. Massialas‟s theory of Hidden Curriculum. The method used in this research is known as descriptive and qualitative. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The selection of informants in this research was carried out by purposive sampling, namely the specific key informants. The result of the research describes that freedom of education cannot stand on their own feet. Therefore, there is another value that can be outlining the student‟s freedom. And if the student is still passing the limit, the teacher, as a person in charge, accepts it as a sign instead of a temptation. De Britto College believe that the case is a good sign. Because of that case, the teacher knows that the students who pass the limit, needs more attention and the teacher must improve on how to teach and approach the student.
